EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — When Jeremy Shockey gets whipped into a frenzy for a football game, he launches himself into the twilight zone.

After making a catch, the New York Giants rookie tight end will beat his chest, wave his arms, gesture and point, often to no one in particular. Then he'll stare down the chain crew, growl at the officials, glare at the opposing coaches and jaw at his defenders all the way back to the huddle.

"Jeremy's so wired on the field that he's in his own world," says Mike Pope, the Giants tight ends coach. "When I get him on the phone after an offensive series, I'll say, 'Don't give it back with a spike.' And he'll say, 'Did I spike it?' "

Shockey says: "It's like I black out. I'm in a zone. It's hard for me once I get inside the circle to get back out of it.".....more (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/giants/2003-01-02-cover-shockey_x.htm)
