    Peter Warrick released

    Here You go Philly.

Peter Warrick was released Tuesday by the Cincinnati Bengals, who have depth at receiver and had run out of patience with the former No. 1 draft pick. The move came a day after the injury-slowed receiver asked to be released if the Bengals had written him out of their plans. He has played in only one preseason game because of injuries, failing to catch a pass.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

It was also cap related. Vested veterans who make the final 53 roster have their salaries guaranteed. THos is why some vets are let go just before the season starts and are re-signed after the first week.

What's the report on his knee? He appeared slow and ineffective when he finally got on the field last year. I wonder if he'll ever be the same.

We don't need him, but it's interesting to see him get cut. Another former 1st round bust.

He didn't hurt his knee, he had a shin injury (whatever that is).

The Patriots showed interest in trading for him prior to getting Andre' Davis. I am not certain if they are still interested after that deal.

Warrick is a good possession WR and punt returner, when healthy. He lacks top-end speed, but is very quick and works well in traffic. He runs well after the catch. He would be a good slot receiver and punt returner.

He is a lot better than Shaw.

Before getting hurt last year, Warrick averaged 60 rec, 700 yards, 5 TD in his first 4 years. That isn't bad for a guy you pick up off the street. Certainly it is a lot better than Bobby Shaw ever did.

                            To add on to what NE39 has been saying. Warrick is the ideal slot receiver his 2003 stats which were career highs out of the slot were;
                            79 receptions
                            819 yards
                            7 TD

Thats damn good numbers for a slot receiver. He could really help solidify our WR core and he's a good PR. I think with this signing there would be less of a need to try and rush Roscoe back plus more vet exp cant hurt any.

I agree, he will be great for us, just imagine

                              Moulds - Evans - Warrick - Roscoe

returning punt - Roscoe - Clements

                              it would be perfect
