I fail to understand the hostility towards Rian Lindell, other than the fact that his name is spelled funny. Not only he does not suck, he's statistically one of the best kickers in the league.
2004 Regular Season:
From 20-29 yards - 13 for 14, 92.9%
From 30-39 yards - 10 for 11, 90.9% (Top 10)
From 40-49 yards - 1 for 3, 33.3% (OK not the best but it's only 3 tries)
Overall - 24 for 28, 85.7% (Top 8 for kickers with more than 3 FGs)
Who's that #8 spot better than? You'll be shocked:
Jason Elam (85.3%)
Mike Vanderjagt (80.0%)
David Akers (84.4%)
Jeff Reed (84.8%)
Jeff Wilkins (79.2%)
Nate Kaeding (80.0%)
Steve Christie (78.6%)
Paul Edinger (62.5%)
Aaron Eiling (50.0%)
John Hall (72.7%)
I don't hear Denver fans screaming to fire Jason Elam, or Philly looking to replace Akers.
That should put things in perspective for us. Lindell is fine. Spend the money on a LT instead.
