The guy has been an excellent snapper for five years or so, probably slightly higher regarded around the league than Dorenbos, who had a good rep himself. Schneck also snaps for PATS and FGs, which Dorenbos doesn't usually do. Neither of them play a different position.

Schneck is a solid longsnapper. The only reason the Steelers released him was because they replaced him with an undrafted FA rookie who will make the minimum. I guess they are counting their pennies, but it wasn't performance-related.

He also had one of the quotes of the year (http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports/steelerslive/s_370423.html), thus far. When reporters told him the Steelers were trying to trade him before releasing him, he said:

"What are they going to get for me, a Snicker's Bar?"
