Uhm. Why in the name of all that's football holy would they do this? I was under the impression that Dorenbos was pretty good at his job. Why make a change this severe to the kicking game 5 days before you open your season?

why did the Steelers let him go? And was long snapping really that big of a concern? I never saw any problems except for when Preston screwed up:idunno: . Maybe this guy plays ST also. I liked Jon though, sucks to see him go...:sadbye:

Normally i would say that messing with the LS could really have a affect on the kicker, but in lindell's case, i can't see him being worse.

Jon was a good story with his parents and all, and ill be sad not to see his card tricks on ESPN.

Then why wasnt he on a team?

He was just cut because they wanted to go with a cheaper option so they brought in another UFA to take his place.

I have to say this was a good signing. Hopefully we sign more.

I believe the reason why they did this was because Dorenbos had an injury during preseason. Maybe it was still an ongoing prob so they felt they needed the change,

Bills Snap at Opportunity to Grab Schneck

Gregg Pastore, buffalobills.com

The Bills continue to adjust the roster as the regular season opener against the Houston Texans on Sept. 11 draws closer.

Tuesday the Bills signed veteran long snapper Mike Schneck, who was released earlier in the week by the Pittsburgh Steelers. To make room, Buffalo waived Jon Dorenbos, who has handled the Bills' long snapping duties for the past two seasons.

"We have not been satisfied with our snapping, and as people have noticed in our games this summer, we have tried a lot of different combinations there and we just couldn't come up with what we thought was the right snapper," President/GM Tom Donahoe said during his weekly radio show on 97 Rock.

"We've got an outstanding punter [Brian Moorman] and a very good kicker," Donahoe added. "Rian Lindell was 24 out of 28 [kicking] last year, which was one of the better percentages in the league. But we have not been satisfied with our snapping so we worked some snappers out [Monday]."

Schneck, who has been one of the better snappers in the league the past few years with Pittsburgh, will join the Bills on the practice field Wednesday as they begin to prepare for the Texans.

Despite that fact that Schneck appeared 92 career games the past six years with the Steelers, the Pittsburgh coaching staff elected to enter the season with rookie snapper Greg Warren, who had also been kicker Jeff Reed's long snapper in college and is a cheaper alternative.

I'll miss him at training camp. He was a really nice guy. He was always signing autographs for the kids and fans at training camp, even when no one else did.
