    On this Date in Bills History...

    1970- John Rauch cuts the remainder of players from the Championship years, as he waives Bemiller, Saimes, and Jacobs, all starters since the early 1960's.

    1975- The Bills defeat the Falcons 16-14 at Tampa Stadium to finish the preseason.

    1980- On a beautiful opening day in Western New York, the Bills defeat the Miami Dolphins for the first time in twenty tries, with a 17-7 victory. After the game, fans poured onto the field and tore down the goal posts.

    1986- The Jim Kelly era begins in Buffalo, as the Bills narrowly lose to the Jets 28-24. Kelly was 20 of 33 for 292 yards and three touchdowns.
