View Full Version : Do you still doubt Vick?

Although he only tossed for 156 yds and an INT, he still made some very nice throws to go with his 11 att/68 yds/1 td on the ground.

Bottom line: he wins.

Some people don't consider him a proven winner.

Vick is a great runner who will win some games with his legs. If contained and forced to throw - which some teams will make him do - he will lose some games with his arm. He is a great athlete, but not a great QB.

I still think he is a great athlete playing QB, as opposed to a great QB. I certainly think you can win with Vick/a great athlete playing QB. If I had my druthers though, I'd want a great QB instead on my team.

He sucks as a QB. He was missing receivers on deep balls by 10 yards. I totally doubt him as a QB but he is a fantastic athlete

I doubt him because I started him in fantasy football and lost this week because of his three turnovers! If he had held it to 2, I'd have won.

sure looked like a qb on that pass to jenkins

That was one success among how many failures? He's still an Option QB playing an option offense.

Without Vick, they lose. They aren't a good team when Vick is not playing QB. He wins games and makes plays. He is not a great fantasy QB, but when he starts and plays for the falcons, they win.

He made a few nice throws early in this game but by and large he was like he usually is- not very accurate. He also fumbled twice (both lost) and got picked. The Falcons won because they rushed for 200 yards, 68 by Vick and their defense played very well. Vick gets by with his athleticism and running ability. As a passer he has a strong arm but I'd rank him at the very bottom of the league accuracy wise. Having said that he is a winner although McNabb is the better QB of the two.

For every play Vick makes you say "Wow" he makes two or three where you're wondering WTF was he doing?

Doesn't he get sacked more than Bledsoe? Countless fumbles as well.

Vick didn't win. The Falcons D did.

He should be a RB not a QB.

Yep...and on a few others as well. And remember, this is the first season he's had the same system two years in a row. Time will tell but my bet is he proves doubters wrong.

I don't doubt Vick, it's only 1 game, his passing was questionable, but his game overall was not.
Mike took the Falcons to the championship game last year, and beat them yesterday, he'll continue to get better and if he remains healthy Atlanta will continue to win....

What exactly am I voting on? Do I doubt that he's a premier QB? Or do I doubt that he's a RB in a QB position?

He will never be a great QB. Great athlete? No doubt! Great QB...not even close. He is so inaccurate, that you cannot call him a good QB. And please don't bring up that one bomb to Jenkins...that's all it was, one play. You have to look at him on all his other throws. He has no touch, he throws the ball way too hard on the short/dump off routes. He doesn't make very good decisions with the ball. I'm sorry, but he is just a hype machine. As I said before, great athlete, but not even close to being a great QB.

Right now he's not a great QB but he could be in the future. It's hard to believe him and Losman are the same age. Vick has 4 years of experience on him.

Vick is a great running back who can make throws once in awhile.

Actually, if you look at his stats, he hasn't played a full season yet:

2001: 8
2002: 15
2003: 5
2004: 15

If he can stay healthy this year, he will finally gain some momemtum.

Marvelous

I wonder how man secretly wanna see him go down.. A QB that fast imo is borderline cheating or so unfair that it will make sense that he gets hurt. If he's so great then why doesn't he throw nice passes all game or some of the game atleast. He's all arm strength and that's it as far as QB skills. For some reason i just can't stand him.

That right there is the reason he won't be a great QB, his style leads him to get hurt and miss action at least once or twice a season. I doubt this one will be any different.

Steve Young and Randall Cunningham pulled it off....I think Vick can as well. He'll learn to use his arm more over time. He's still only 24.

That's true. I can't argue that point. However I still think he is and can be an elite QB. He is only 24 and is still in the early stages of his career. And when he is in the game, Atlanta wins more often than not, which is ultimately what matters. Time will tell I guess.

Put it this way, would you rather face Vick or Shaub on Sunday? :;

He's a black Bledsoe that can run.

And less durable. Fumbles more too.

I'd just as soon face any teams back-up QB over their starter. The Falcons are no different.

You would have rather faced Brady the backup than Bledsoe the starter in NE?

And to think there are people here that wanted to face Vick instead of Shaub. :cynic:

So much for the "glorified RB" moniker. He is throwing TDs as well as running all over the place, and this is when he is not 100%.

Still doubt him?

I certainly DID want to face Vick for this game, but not for the reason other people wanted to. I kept defending Vick, saying he is a playmaker while many others kept saying he was overrated. "Oh hes a good RB but a bad QB." People just in that damn hype...My reason for facing Vick was that it would have been a big boost for our team if we beat the Vick-led Falcons.

Guess we didnt beat them.
