Can anyone go on finheaven?

For some reason, I cant go on finheaven.com. It says my account is suspended. For what though? I havent posted anything in weeks. Are they banning everyone thats not a fin fan!? :argue:

It's not your account that's suspended... it's the site's account. AJ is having problems with the host. Hopefully it will be ironed out soon.

Well if that were true, then how would him and Gram be working a deal right now for a dedicated host. They had 1300.00 donated, and the new server is 2100.00, so we are paying for a lot of this out of our own pocket.

As a metter of fact, this site has contributed a lot to AJ in the form of money and technical advice. They in turn have helped us out a lot with advertising, support, and getting this place off the ground with word of mouth.

And for what? There is a vocal minority on every board that just want to complain about other people's opinions, moderators, and what they perceive as their "rights" to act in any way they please.

Why do guys likre AJ do it? It's out of pure love of the game. Well, most of us do it out of pure love for the game. There aren't many out there who do it for power, glory, and ego. (one or two, but not many) Considering the expense involved, and there are literally hundreds of these boards out there, I'm just simply amazed every day I turn on this idiot box called a computer.

This is "missphins" husband. AJ has been knocking himself out trying to get the best server possible. We wanted to wait until all promised donations came in, unfortunately we fell 300.00 dollars short. Some people just didn't come through.

We made adjustments to the site, so that it would use less bandwidth, but when the Phins crashed and burned, people jumped onto Fin Heaven in record numbers...thus sending the site down.

We found a new dedicated server last night (well AJ did) and set up the account. Fin Heaven should have no futher problems.

As for the remarks about keeping the cash...well, there is no way to prove what we do and don't do, so you guys can do and say whatever you want. I know, and AJ knows that we run the place the best we know how, and are learning everyday.

I have personally spent around a $1000.00 of my own dollars to keep our website open, all this for the fans. I know AJ has spent much much more, out of his own pocket.

I know most of the people really appreciate the site, and what we do, but I am the type to really focus on th negative. I need to learn to not do that, so BF1...blow it out your ass.

Gram just sent me the link to this post.

I am currently working with a new host; however, the old host isn't being very cooperative. They aren't "turning the site back on" right now, thus I can not access my vBulletin database. To anyone that knows, that's very important to me and the site. Because of this, I am unable to start the site back up.

In addition, they aren't planning on refunding me fees. Since I paid the old host for a year of hosting, I gave them a lump sum. My account with them would finished at the end of August 2003. So, I am trying to work that out as well... as losing that amount of money would get me really pissed.

Anyways, in conclusion, the site is down for an unknown period of time. If everything goes somewhat as planned, it could be online for some buy Saturday or Sunday.

By the way, ask anyone that knows me well, I do not pocket any of the money that FinHeaven & Co makes. I went as far as making another checking account so none of the site monies and my monies would get mixed up.

I hope I cleared everything up. If not, just ask me. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The new hosting company had to install some software on the new server (Apache). AJ put a bulletin out yesterday explaining that there would be some downtime. It was supposed to have been done late last night, but it seems the host jumped the gun, as it was down yesterday evening. Now that the software is installed, AJ has to re-populate the Database, and will probably do so when he gets home from school.

No I'm here giving the host hell... it's rater ridiculous that they jumped the gun about 5 hours early, and now it is taking them over 15 hours, when it was supposed to take about 30 minutes to one hour.

I'm trying not to get too pissed though... the host has been known for the lack of tech support and great speed and reliability... so I kinda knew what I was getting into... just not like this.

Also, wharfrat, are you familiar with the program Web Hosting Manager or cPanel? Let me know...
