HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA -- Organizers got what they wanted Friday when Canada and Russia won their semifinal games and advanced to meet in Sunday's final of the World Junior Championship for a second straight year.
The Russians started the day with what turned out to be an easy 4-1 triumph over Finland.

The underdog Americans, playing their fourth game in five nights, gave the Canadians all they could handle in the nightcap before an enthusiastic crowd of 10,300 at the Metro Centre.

Defenseman Jeff Woywitka scored the winner at 11:40 of the third period on Canada's 39th of the 42 shots they fired at goalie Bob Goepfert, who was brilliant. He's the only reason the Americans didn't get blown out of the water
