Pro standouts work harder, smile longer
    By Jarrett Bell, USA TODAY

Willis McGahee is one of many young NFL players on the cusp of superstardom.
    By Jeff Roberson, AP

"I don't know the definition of a star, but whoever has that title, I think it goes beyond what they do on the field," Baltimore Ravens cornerback Deion Sanders says. "You look at that person and say, 'Without football, Ray Lewis would still be somebody.' There are a lot of great players who don't have that 'it' you really can't define.

"You just know that without music, P. Diddy would still be something. Muhammad Ali was the same way. Boxing was just a platform. He would have been great in politics or something else. Your performance has to be there, but you've also got to be able to reach people and bring them to where you are. To make them feel you."

“You hold a players only meeting and get each guy to stand up and say what he can bring to the table... and if he doesn't, you punch him in the face.” ~~ Harry Neale, on how to fix the Sabres season.
