I went to the game and it was awesome! The Sabres were getting beat to the puck right and left by the Capitals all over the ice in the first two periods but they really turned it around in the third. Both Kotalik's and Vanek's goals, the first two, were huge slap shot blasts from just inside the blue line which really got the adrenaline flowing in the arena! In overtime it only took 34 seconds before Vanek took a cross pass right by the out of place Kolzig and lightly tapped it in to win the game.

As a bonus the NHL featured a free shootout for show. First were the capitals who were robbed blind by Biron. Next Vanek took a shot that smoked the Capitals back up goaltender and really made the crowd of over 17,000 roar. The next shot was also a Hasek like save by Biron while Briere missed on his penalty shot. On the third shot by the capitals, the shooter managed to loose control of the puck before he could even make it to the net and lost the shootout for the caps.

Notes:
Biron was spectacular tonight and really impressed everybody in the crowd. Olie Kolzig was also very impressive as he held the shutout through the first two periods. Max appeared to have his speed but made many mistakes and was likely more of a problem on the ice than anything.
McKee was very dominating and really took on a leadership role on the team while Vanek played very well.

Overall the game was incredible for Five dollars and am defintely looking forward to the season opener on October 5th!
