I like Sapp!! He backs up his smack.

Strahan doesn't deserve the sack record...the Farve sack was bull****!!!

I'll beg to differ with you Bduff...sack numbers don't tell the entire story.

Very few defensive players in the league cause other teams to alter their plays like he does. When you play against him, you have to scheme to take him out or he'll eat you for lunch.

and waht do you think they do vs strahan. the double and triple team him and he still managed to get 22 sacks. strahan recieves just as much attention as Sapp in terms of team changin their game plans!

Favre got a half sack?

Ok. Warren should keep his mouth shut. He didn't do anything special last year. I agree that the record breaking sack was bs, but the rest of the sacks weren't. When is last time anyone else was close to the record? Was Sapp close?

BNYC - I'll take a look tonight.
LOG - I'm just bringing in a new perspective. Strahan had 21.5 legitimate sacks. That’s how many more than Sapp? Yes, I'm exposed to NY media more than most of you. But that just lets me see how good Strahan really is. He’s friggin no joke.

Oh yeah. I like how Warren said that he was surprised how "my boy Favre" gave up the sack. "MY BOY!!!" Farve made Sapp his ***** a few times.

What I meant was Warren was busy running his gums while Favre was busy beating them.

Sapp is an appropriate last name. That's what he is - Sap.

Sapp is a moron who needs to keep his mouth shut. He talks more trash than anyone, yet his team disappoints every year. And last year he sucked, Strahan beat him in nearly every meaningful statistic.

Sapp had 6.5 sacks last season.

update: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/story/9246p-8705c.html

Peacemaker: Michael Strahan remains "baffled" about why Tampa Bay DT Warren Sapp decided to go public with his belief that Strahan's sack record deserves an "asterisk." But after Sapp continued his campaign Tuesday in Orlando, Strahan decided not to fire back.

"I'm not going to go any further with it," Strahan said. "I'm concentrating on playing football here. I hope Warren has a great year. That's it with me. I'm a football player, you know? Forget it. I'm a nice guy."

How do you pick a winner in an argument between two morons?

Once again, the Wys man to the rescue!! :D

This is an apples-to-oranges comparison. Shelby, yes, Sapp only had 6.5 sacks last year. As a DT.

Strahan is a DE on a team that IMO had better defensive talent on their DL last year. It totally stands to reason that DEs get more sacks than DTs. Strahan is also OK vs. the run, but Sapp blows Strahan away at stuffing holes. Strahan is supposed to get sacks. Sapp is not. Certainly not 20 of them.

Strahan is 6'5"/275 while Sapp is 6'2"/300+

It's a difficult comparison. If I had to choose one, I'd take Sapp in a heartbeat. He's better than PW. Together they would present the best DT tandem in the league.

Among the top 32 sack totalists, only 2 of them were DTs.

John Randle, the best of the two tied for 11th. But he isn't nearly as good at stopping the run as Sapp is.

Glover, isn't even close to Sapp in terms of overall ability. He finished tied for 31st in sacks.

Other than that, most sack guys were DEs w/ a few OLBs thrown in.

Don't forget that Sapp had 16.5 sacks last year, 12.5 the year before, and 10.5 in '97, as a DT! That should be impressive enough. Teams run away from Sapp's area, not into him. He's a force. I'd rather play a team that has Strahan than Sapp. Sapp is like PW who takes away half you middle running game, maybe more in Sapp's case.

Also, Abraham had 13 sacks for the Giants.

Butch

Sapp's performance was not up to par last year. He had very little impact even though the team brought in Simeon Rice to relieve some pressure off him.

Strahan had twice as many tackles (whether it be total, assists, or solo it doesn't matter), more than three times as many sacks, 6 forced fumbles to Sapp's 0, 2 pass batted down to Sapp's 0, and had more "stuffs" than Sapp. It doesn't matter what position you play when you get dominated in every statistic like that.

Besides, Strahan's DL was battered all year long, so you know they weren't going to go to his side...except for Favre. Don't get me wrong, Sapp is a good player but he should keep his mouth shut on this one. He's talking smack to a guy who has been to a SB and had a much better year last year.
