well as you seen in the oakland game.... they were struggling horribly.... only thing was... oaklands d was doing just as badly, if not worse......

then in their loss to carolina.... nothing went right...... could it be a one week fluke? i dunno, but i enjoy watching anyways

pittsburgh should be able to beat them, but i also think they will split with all the AFC east rivals....... which even if they won out.... and with my pitt loss..... that would put them at best at 11-5... and they still have to dance with KC, Indy, and a few others.....

Don't be a homer, Skooby. They looked really beatable the first 2 games, nothing impressive at all. 3 of the next 4 games they have also look real tough. so there is a better then avg. chance they will be 2-4. If they lost to us there they then play the colts at 2-5, which will not be good for them. There will be a big stink and someone will complain and fight and spiral down. By Dec 14th when we play them again, who knows how they will look or feel.

It seems a little early to write them off, although I agree the early season schedule is pretty difficult. I think they need to go 3-3 in the first 6 games to win the division and have a chance to repeat.

It will be interesting to see how they respond to playing poorly last week. Against Carolina they were brutal with turnovers, costly penalties (6 false starts on the OL, many on 1st down), dropped passes and dropped interceptions. However, they have a history of coming back strong from poor performances and haven't lost 2 straight since December 2002. Playing Pittsburgh at Pittsburgh is about as tough as it gets, so it will be interesting.

Probably the biggest concern is their complete lack of a running game. The parts all seem to be there, but they haven't run the ball well at all and have taken way too many negative play. It is too early to say it is a trend, but certainly I'd like to see them get Dillon going.

On the bright side, I think the defense is going to be very good. Their DL is dominant, as advertised. Monty Beisel has blended in well (although Chad Brown has looked slow). Their secondary has been battling injuries, but their depth is apparent as they have played very well. They are going to be very good defending the pass, stronger than last year. They have to do a better job on 3rd downs and in the Red Zone (they are tied with Buffalo for the worst Red Zone defense in the NFL), but I think they will be alright there.

One interesting development is they are playing their base 3-4 set with an extra DB and Rodney Harrison coming down and playing like a LB. When they have used that alignment it has been very effective.

Overall, they look like the same team to me. Last week's game had a lot of bad football, but they have a history of correcting that sort of thing as the season progresses. They still look like they the same team to me, although a slow start might set them back.

I can't predict their record, but I think they are still the same team. They have always started somewhat slowly (other than 2002, when they started fast then struggled after the first few games.

I'm not around as much in the season as the offseason, but I'll be around occasionally. I like to check in.

The funny thing is you think my posting here is directly related to how well the Pats do. I don't play for the team, it has nothing to do with my being here. Whether they win or lose, I'm the same guy.

New England looks to be 7-9 or 8-8 at best, scary.

Not to be rude, but you obviously know dick about football making a stupid post like this. I hate the Patriots as much as the next guy, but there is no f**king way barring a season ending injury to Corey Dillon or Tom Brady.

Patriots (1-1) at Steelers (2-0)

The Steelers are the class of the AFC right now, and they just saw a blueprint from the Panthers on how to beat the Patriots. There are ways to beat every team, and the Steelers have done it before and they’re confident.

Expect Pittsburgh to commit to the run on offense and come hard after Tom Brady on defense.

New England faces its third consecutive tough game. The Patriots don’t lose too many games, but they could be getting worn down mentally. The schedule will wear on New England’s players. They aren’t consciously looking ahead, but they know what they’ll face. Pick: Steelers.

Whose the class of the AFC? See that is why I got mad. I don't see why some of you people spend so much time worrying about what the Patriots are gonna do, or how the Dolphins and Jets are going to suck. It's stupid really. Really stupid. Yeah those Patriots really suck dude. They lost all their coaches, they'll be lucky to go 7-9. Gimme a friggin' break!

No, it was more like how Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh offense suddenly went impotent even though the Patriots defense was tired and not playing any better than they had all game. Ben took his sweet ass time in the pocket getting sacked by a weak pass rush and overthrew people. How does someone magically SUCK in the 4th quarter?

weak ass pass rush? WOW,JUST WOW. they were causing havoc and were man-handling pitts o-line(like usual). ben at times was (as you call it) taking his sweet time because the pats secondary was on the receivers like glue.he was waiting for them to get open. other times,he just had to much pressure on him. imagine a fully healthy pats team vs this pitt team, ben would have lost his life. pitt cant even hang with a depleted pats team, at home no less.

about the extra minute(52 seconds really),nobody had any idea who would have gotten the ball last. second of all, even if you took out the 52 extra seconds, pats still got into field goal range before time would have expired. they were already at pitts 31 yard line with more then a minute left. way to do your homework ppl. this week the pats did not beat themselves like they did vs carolina, with many pass drops and 16 penaltys.

and the pats replaced there coordinators last year with, well with 2 more patriot coaches that know the system inside and out. ppl act like nobody replaced them,or act like there outsiders from another team.

pats take this division easily. there is no competition from the jets, miami, and especially buffalo. any team that lets michael vick beat them with HIS arm is garbage. he is one of the worst throwers i ever seen. bufs secondary is quite sad(imo of course). indy better hope that more pat players go down, because if there offense does not pick it up, they will suffer another defeat vs n.e --- there defense is massively overrated. they played garbage offenses(jack, cle, bal). brady and the pats will pick them apart and eat them.

buff will be lucky to go 8-8 this year.losman is the worst qb in the league and just does not have IT.

you all have a nice day,and use a little more common sense with your predictions instead of saying what you wanna believe.

The Pats are definitely struggling on defense. They are having breakdowns in a number of spots, not in just one area. Basically, they are just surviving by out-scoring teams.

That said, it is early. I have heard from a very good source that Seymour and Randall Gay will return from injury this week.

The same source says Tedy Bruschi will return for the Indy game.

We'll see how good that info turns out to be.

LOL -- the Patsies have given up 136 points so far through 5 games. They are dead last in points allowed in the conference....by a landslide.

Pats fans, of all people, should know that defenses wins championships. The secondary is swiss cheese and the Genius thought it would be a good idea to put in the defense's best player in at FB :crap: How'd that work out?

The Pats defense has struggled, but it they still have the potential to be very good. The combination of injuries along with a transition due to new players has led to a number of breakdowns, but I can't say it has been discouraging. The areas they have struggled have as much to do with team defense as any single breakdown.

However, once the secondary gets healthy it has the potential to be the deepest they have had in the Belichick era. They do need someone to step up at S, but the CB position is loaded. Looking at the play from early games, I am pretty encouraged that the Pats coaching staff will get it straightened out, as I think the personnel is there to make it happen. The track record is certainly there.

I think it pretty funny you are talking trash, when the Pats are right on target. Since Belichick arrived in NE, the Pats are only 12-12 in the games 1-4 of the season. This year they were 2-2, which is the same record at that point in 2003 and better than 2001 (1-3). The key was those teams got better as the year progressed, something I expect this year as well.

I said before the season started the Pats first 6 games were tough and they needed to go 3-3 before the bye week to keep in the thick of things and have a chance to defend their title. They accomplished that, and I'm not unhappy with the way things have worked out. I'm pretty excited for the rest of the season. They have a bye week coming up which should allow them to get some players back healthy.

I'm real excited about the offense. The young OL has tons of potential and will get a lot better as the year progresses, and the TE's are adding a new dimension. The WR corps looks solid. The Pats young QB is starting to enter his prime, and continues to show improvement in his game.

Genius thought it would be a good idea to put in the defense's best player in at FB :crap: How'd that work out?

Maybe, considering the Pats failed to convert two 3rd-and-1's running the ball against Atlanta, the "Genius" knew what he was doing. Seymour might have made a difference on those plays.

Belichick has always said he will treat every down the same and play his best players for that particular play. I think, given the 3 Super Bowl victories in the last 4 years, that philosophy has served him well. Besides, the Pats won without Seymour.

At any rate, you'll get to see just how much the Pats have slipped for yourself in a few weeks, as they visit Buffalo right after their bye week.

pats will go 1-2 in the next 3.

Just like they were gonna lose to the Steelers and Falcons on the road?

Pats will beat Denver and Buffalo and lose to the Colts and will put them at 5-3.

We will beat the Jets and lose to the Raiders and Patriots on the road and be 3-5 and be done with.

It sucks but that's the most likely scenerio if you're a realist and don't wear the blinders.

We will not beat the Raiders and Pats on the road. We can hardly beat anyone on the road let alone them guys.

The Raiders might be 1-3 but they lost some close games to some tough teams. They will easily beat us at home and we don't stand a chance against the Pats. This team doesn't win many road games.

sure new england's schedule is tough, but it's basically the same as the bill's and the rest of the afc east.

there's not much of an advantage there.

the only difference is we play cincy and houston, whereas new england plays pittsburgh and indy. it's a slight advantage for us, but not much.

everybody's ruling the pats out already, but it's just not going to happen.
