View Full Version : All right, I gotta ask this question

Who thinks they know everything about being a starting QB by watching Peyton Manning?

I just have to ask.

As fans we fool ourselves into believing that we know all there is to know about doing something by watching it. It also makes sense that Jeff Gordon isnt gonna become a all star race car driver overnight or by watching others drive from the pits.

Did any of you learn how to drive by riding around with your parents or by watching it on TV?

Apparently I am a star Nascar driver because I have watched Jeff Gordon.

I also am a porn star, well, because...you get the point. I am actually a porn star I just dont get paid.

Point is, how in the hell do we know jack squat about how long it should take to learn a new job (starting NFL QB) if we have never done it ourselves?

Furthermore, how well did all of you do by the 3rd day at your new job? Even with that 4 year degree?

You are totally missing the point.

First off, you don't know what the qualifications of any member of this board are. However, you seem to make it a point to make a rather peculiar perverse comment about what you may or may not be in your spare time. Do us a favor, and please don't judge the rest of us.

1. Losman got drafted a year and half ago. Remember when he got hurt in scrimmage by showing off and running down the feel and breaking his leg? Then he came back, was unprepared, and Mularkey put him in the game against New England to see what he could do? J.P.'s first day was in 2004.

2. The fans have a right to have a beef. We pay the money to have this team even exist.

3. Everyone, I mean, EVERYONE that is a Buffalo Bills fan, wants to see him do well. Why wouldn't we? the bottom line is, he isn't doing well right now. True Bills fans want to see him get better.

4. EVERYONE that is a Buffalo Bills fan wants to see this team do well, and not be mired in mediocrity. That's why we buy tickets, jerseys, and other souvenirs for the team, that goes directly to their pockets.

5. Tom Donahoe has not been on the job for 3 days either. 5+ years and no playoffs, bottom line.

6. Back to the positively bone-chilling comparison of J.P. Losman to a porn star. If you are a porn star but aren't getting it up on the job, you aren't a very good porn star. You might get a few chances, but after a while, the director is going to tell you to sit it out. :(

We want to see this team perform, from the ballboy to the quarterback to the general manager. We've been promised for years that we have a playoff-caliber team. The whole team needs to do some soul-searching and step up their game. It's definitely too early by far to call Losman a bust. However, it's not too early to say his first three games have overall been a disappointment.

I believe, from the track record, that if the current offensive trend continues, we will be hearing murmurs from Mr. Wilson as to how he feels about the state of the way the team is playing. Will you be calling him a bore-ass then too? Last time I checked, Ralph Wilson, Jr. was the final f***ing word.

OK, the tone of this post is almost 300% different than all your others. If your point is you have a valid reason to be frustrated, I agree completely. I could easily be too. If you point is TD has been on the job 5 years and hasnt gotten us to the playoffs, right on man, Im with ya. Does Ralph have the right to ***** if they keep playing bad, sure. Do I think he should? NO

WHY? BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE FRIKKIN MEETINGS WHEN THEY DECIDED TO GO WITH LOSMAN. Thats my point. Its not does the team stink right now, they probably do, I cant say for sure because we still dont know how good TB and ATL are yet. My point is, OK, they stink, lets all agree about that...Now what? The truth is Losman is still our starter, I still like the overall plan, we still should have expected he wont look like a seasoned vet after 3 games, and I promise TD and CO still realize this was to be expected. They probably hoped for better, like we all did, but expected just about what we got.

I think we are in screaming agreement. I agree with your frustration and your points. Its the next step that we dont agree about. I dont agree that Losman is a bust (im not sure your saying that but sometimes you seem too with comments like we should have seen something by now). I just dont know enough about Losman yet to draw any conclusions and there are very real examples that say we wont know for quite some time, I gave you some of them. Do I hope it will be sooner rather than later? of course, we all do, but only JP knows when he will step up and play like many of us believe he can, if he ever does.

My problem isnt with the content of your *****ing per say, its the fact that your doing it at all, or should I say this much. I just dont understand why, I cant figure out how some many people didnt expect Losman to play average or worse in his first starts, again how many starts, I just dont know. I guess the other part with me is that I see the complaining as futile becuase TD and CO made their choice and fully expect to live with it. Does anyone honestly believe TD and CO have been blindsided by Losmans "bad" play? Its just not possible, Mularkey himself said before he palyed his 1st real down that JP would struggle at times and that the rest of the team had to step it up to counter that. Guess what they havent. Here we agree again. The TEAM does have the talent to beat anyone, with a struggling Losman at the helm or not. But the TEAM hasnt shown me mush of anything yet. McGahee gets tackled by the air when CB's swat at him at this point (not really but he is going down way to fast), the o-line has given up too much pressure, the TE's are non existant, the D is letting everyone run on them, and the coaches are trying to run a stock car with a go cart driver at this point. They need to scale back, throw short, run more, cover the run more, and strengthen on 3rd down D.

I said this before, the team we have seen in the past 2 games is a team going against championship level competition and the team we saw on game 1 was much more likely the "real" team.

I never said J.P. Losman was bust. I said he hasn't been playing well. I want to see him start to make some improvement. This is a team sport. I'd also like to see some victories. We've had 5+ years without much to cheer about. Taking it in the shorts for another year while we have a false promise from Tom Donahoe, etc. just doesn't sit well. This as we are all paying the bills.

The team not winning is not all J.P. Losman's fault. J.P. Losman playing well may or may not be all of his fault. The supporting cast should be soul-searching. The coaches and GM certainly need to be held accountable in their evaluations and their coaching.

I agree that Ralph needs to start finding answers to some of these questions. He certainly did with John Butler and Wade Phillips. He did when he extended Tom Donahoe's contract (quietly) recently.

I want to see a win this weekend. The team needs to demand it of themselves.

Ya know I was thinking about Butler the other day. I thought about how the Butler firing went down. Ralph actually fired him after he tried to talk to him twice about extending him and got no answer, at least thats how I remember it. Im not so sure Ralph is the hard ass Owner that he needs to be at times. Especially after extending TD without any playoff appearances. I actually agree with you about us being harder on TD. But, I also feel TD is a hell of a GM. I just dont know how I feel overall about TD. I think I just want the damn playoffs, but by the way the second we get there and lose we will be screaming for the SB, and then a SB win.

I personally was disappointed when we lost those last couple of playoff games (as any fan would be), but I certainly was happy with the team and where they were heading. At least they were finding a way to win. If the Bills made the playoffs this year, I would be very pleased (or next, or ANY year). Of course you go for the Super Bowl, but at this point I'll take almost anything.

I would say I can't agree with you that Tom Donahoe is a "helluva" GM. 5+ years, no playoffs burns my hide a bit. We'll see this year.

"Stay tuned"

yeah, I just cant put my finger on him. I love some moves like TKO and then hate some moves like skipping Kearse, Woody, Wahle, and/or Rivera.

Ralph Wilson and everyone else has a right to ***** about our team. Ralph especially since he pays everyone's salaries and put his trust in Tom D who is the one who makes personnel decisions. In my opinion it was a dumb move to extend TD's contract. If I were Ralph I woulda said "Look Tom, I really want to give you a new contract but if this team doesn't make the playoffs then that's going to kill a new deal." Every year we're told how this new rookie or new free agent or new coordiantor or new playbook is going to push us over the hump into the big games and it hasn't happened. So yeah... a lot of us are pissed. Sure, we expect rebuilding years but we've been doing that for like 5 years. 2 years too many. We're true fans and will always watch and root for our Bills but we can protest by not buying anything.

My protest hits them in the wallet. This year I am only going to one game and I didn't renew my "Bills Digest" subscription. Also, I bought no merchandise this year.

I agree with everything you're saying, it's exactly the way I feel. However, we still subscribe to Bills' Digest because he is an independent and is not a Buffalo Bills' employee (that I am aware of).

If he is, please advise, and I will likewise cancel my Bills' Digest immediately.
