    Play of the game

The Saints mauling Willis McGahee for a two-yard loss on a fourth-and-one run at midfield early in the fourth quarter. Kelly Holcomb had replaced J.P. Losman at quarterback, and the Bills had moved to the Saints 48 and faced third-and-one. McGahee tried the middle but was stuffed by Charles Grant for no gain to bring up fourth down. Coach Mike Mularkey made the decision to go for it, but the offensive line was overwhelmed for a second straight play and safety Dwight Smith sliced through and slammed McGahee for a loss. Game over. New Orleans drove to a field goal that put the game out of reach.
