haha I hope Noronen gets his chance, I really don't think he has gotten one like Miller or Biron...

Sure it was only preseason, but we were up 3-0 and he let 6 straight goals in. From what I heard they were shots he SHOULD have saved. I understand everyone has a bad game once in a while, so I say give the kid another chance!

Looks like we're watching another good old, physical, Eastern Conference game from previous seasons. Neither team has had tons of chances, and the score is 0-0.

Here's to some scoring chances getting some goals for Buffalo in the 2nd.

Back to watching some of the other games. Man, Atlanta is killing Washington.

Boston was obstructing on every rush until they got called for it. Then they seemed to back off and the Sabres got some opportunities.

Sweet Xmas, it's about damn time. I need my Jeanneret fix! :bf1:

I am glad to hear I wasn't the only one not getting the feed. I had my DISH box set to start recording at 4:58 PST, and it was recording a "technical difficulties" screen the whole time. I thought I was going to start feeling what the folks with DirecTV have been feeling.

At last, a goal! :brush:

I may have rooted against the U of Minnesota many times when Vanek was there (I'm a Michigan fan), but I absolutely am glad he has arrived. :bf1:

Absolutely!

First the Isles guys, then tonight, I had to endure Boston's. Some announcing teams aren't too bad, but it seems there are more bad than good.

A Sabres game w/o Rick just doesn't make sense!

Of all the damn players to have gotten that breakaway! :crap:

It's too bad that couldn't have been Danny, Hecht, Vanek, or Max. Oh well.

So far, it's showing that the Bruins are built to play the hulking, bruising style of hockey that was in the "old" NHL. Let's hope Buffalo doesn't do what they did so well the last season we saw them---Blow a great lead in the 3rd.

For some reason I'm starting to like Lindy this year. Maybe the year off got him to doing some thinking.

For some reason I'm starting to like Lindy this year.

Let's not get too carried away...... :D

It's the pacing of the game, me thinks. With the game "sped up", there's no place for the dull, boring, defense-first mentality. You've got to score first, and then play defense 2nd. Lindy's old craptacular system is out the door now.

Geez, speaking of scoring, Atlanta absolutely destroyed the Caps. Holy!!

And also, since we're talking about out-of-control games, the wife's Sharks are getting beaten up by the 'Hawks. :crap:

Buffalo goes right back on the offensive. That was damn near another goal.

Yep. It's been close to getting higher on each side, but Boston hit the post 2 times, and Buffalo has been stoned by Raycroft.

Turf

I think the players still haven't gotten used to the two line pass rule being eliminated. They still tend to position themselves inside the red line when carrying the puck out.
I think as the season goes on, you're going to see teams really start to exploit this more and more.

Turf
10-07-2005, 09:26 PM
What I like about Vanek aside from his physical skills is that he's just plain smart. Gretzky and the great ones were smart.

The same scenario happened two eyars ago which was our worse season in recent memory...

Beating NY and Boston is nothing to scoff at, but nevertheless, it's only 2 games out of 82. Tomorrow's game against Ottawa is an even greater test than this team has faced. We've got a loooooong way to go. Too early for anyone to beat their chest and scream "I told you this team wuz teh bessed1!!". :D

Still, let us celebrate a 2-0 start, and an all-around beating of the Bruins. :bf1:

If the refs keeps calling the game as they are, and I hope for the sake of the NHL they do, the Sabres speed will prevail. Most teams are built for the old NHL.
This is what I remember hockey being. I think I could even watch another team play at this point and enjoy it.

What a great game all around. Miller played outstanding!

Tommorow will be a HUGE test. Do you guys think we will start Miller? 3 games in 4 nights....what do you think?

All the naysayers (and I'm not pointing a finger at anyone here) saying that getting rid of the 2 line pass and putting delayed offside back in wouldn't help the game are clearly wrong. Goodbye Neutral Zone Trap.

I think Marty is going to start tonight's game against Ottawa. It isn't often a goalie will start on back-to-back nights. I just hope he's up to the task of stopping the favorite in the Eastern Conference. :peace:

I'm not too worried about that either. Biron has a pretty good history vs. Ottawa. It seems that is the one division team he CAN seem to beat.
