View Full Version : Is it me or does anyone think this rivalry has died down

To me its not as intense as it used to be like it was 10+ years ago, yeah I know these teams have always been rivals, but that was the peak of the rivalry.
Then the jets rivalry intensified and the Colts were our rivals*( they were in the AFCE, that rivalry didnt last) and the Pats rivalry grew as well.
I think this game may renew our rivalry with you guys, because it will be a really good game IMO.

Hell no, not to me at least. I hate the Dolphins, and there's nothing more than I like to see (sports wise) than to beat those sorry sacks of *****!

From 1988 thru 1996, the rivalry was at it's peak. Not coincidentally, that was the time of the Levy-Shula, Kelly-Marino matches. very good coaches, teams, and players is what made for this peak. Since then, it's become less and less which each passing year. That we came out on top during this era only made it that much more special.

its not much of a rivaly when one team dominates the other as much as the dolphins have, especially in recent years. Time for Saban to start his own dominant legacy over the bills come sunday:horror:

You know I was just thinking the other day how I don't feel that energy of the rivalry anymore. Back in the day Buffalo was a competitive team. But in the past few years how can we be competitive when we can't even manage ourselves. First the team has to be confident in itself, then it can be confident in beating other teams. There can't be a rivalry if other teams don't take us seriously

It's wierd that we don't split in a season, it's always one team wins both..funny how that happens. Now I really want to beat you first, that's a good indication of who will sweep.

It seems that over the past few years, either the Bills or the Dolphins have been down in the dumps, while the other team is OK. I think the rivalry of the late 80s through the early 90s won't be there until both teams are yearly playoff contenders.

The Pats have definitely took it over. It's still pretty big though. We probably don't hate the Dolphins so much because I bet most of us were rooting for them to upset the Pats last year.

I think it slipped just a tiny bit. It's because of the ex NE players we have and have had and the fact that they are winning championships on Field Goals. However, no one ever mentions that if Viniteri misses...those games are tied.
I still hate the Fish! CRYBABIES, POT SMOKERS...DOUCHE BAGS! the whole lot of them.

You young folks would have had to have been at some of those games in the
'70's, when the refs were afraid of Shula to understand this rivalry.

We had BS penalties coming out of nowhere. We had a 105 yard interception return for a TD called back. We were hosed out of a lot of those games, simply because of Shula's position on the competition committee.

That's why a win over the fish is almost as satisfying than sex.

And know this...While your Historian likes to kid around a lot, the previous post was dead serious.

Ask some of your 'Senior' brethren on the boards here, like JanReimers and EE.

I'm sure everyone has a least favorite fish tale.

i would have agreed until the kick off today. once the game started i was all over the place, i would have spent less energy playing the game rather than watching it.

the miami team got a lot of penalties, but that's how they play. they get 10+ ever game.

they tried to physically intimidate us early, and went after Holcomb's head every time. thomas and taylor absolutely hate the bills. the rock said they'd smack the lips off of us, well there aren't any lips on the ground, but that's only because fish don't have lips.

the rivalry is alive and well, and I think the pats one will die down with bledsoe leaving and us kicking the teeth out of their heads in a few weeks
