View Full Version : Jets D ranked 8th in total D in the NFL. If you ask me, this is a CHAMPIONSHIP typeD

I just seen how the Jets D is ranked 8 in the NFL in total D... Take away that Chiefs game@KC and I say we are a top 5 D... Take away the lack of O production as well as all of the 3 and outs... And I say we have a top 3 D.

This year we have a Offense that has yet found an "identity", Last year the O was a Smash Mouth type, run the ball down your face all game type of O... This year.. ahhh I'd rather not even comment. BUT I WILL. I don't think Curtis is Done, I simply believe loosing K.McKenzie, and Anthony "Stone Hands" Becht has really hurt the running game, as-well as this new Zone blocking scheme... But hey, I do see some things I like on O... 1 is that we have 2 Tight-ends that can RAC, Vinny is actually a solid QB and can manage a game for the Jets, Coles can make the tough catch in the middle, and I think Curtis will get his groove back... All in all, we are not the best O but we are a middle of the pack type team.

Do you all remember in 02 when the Jets Offense was flashy, could put up alot of points? But the D was horrible? Do you remember having slow LB's? It felt like a TOSS play, or a RB sweep could get like 6-7 yds every run on that D... Or do you remember when we had a slow S.Garnes at S? A slow S.Cowart? Old and used LB's such as M.Lewis, M.Jones? Well alot has changed for the Jets D in the past 3-4 years, and I must admit... For the Better! I would much rather us have this O in 05... With this HendersonD, than the other way around... Why? For the simple fact, going into each ballgame, the jets have a CHANCE with any team, any given Sunday.

Look at the D now... Starting with the D.Henderson...

We have a great D Line...
J.Abraham, I don't know more than 5 DE's that can get to the QB as-well as ABE... D.Freeney for sure, D.Ware from the Boys, S.Rice(But ain't do ish vs A.Jones), J.Kearse, and J.Taylor...Well All I know is Abe is a monster with a motor and I believe will play all 16 games and get signed long-term deal.

D.Robertson, Is really coming into his own, First game this season without that cast on his hand, and guess what? He racked up 2 sacks! I loved this kid when he played for Kentucky... And if you ask me, he is the next W.Sapp but a quicker 1 and maybe even stronger, JMO

S.Ellis, Man, No team needs 2 speed rushers on the D-line, We already have Abe, but man can Ellis get to the QB... But his strongest aspect is against the run. I'm telling you, this kid has that "it" about him, straight-up nasty MO-FO... Quick, Strong... And I said Abe has a motor? Just pay attention to Ellis come game-day, he is light's out for this D...

J.Reed, May not be the most talented dude on the team, or even the D-Line... But I love this kids heart... Yea it was wrong to stick Vilma, but that just shows his heart... And every NFL team needs a player with a "Chip on his shoulder"

All in all... We have 3 PRO Bowlers on the D-Line, Yea it will never happen where all 3 go to the Pro Bowl in 1 season... But they all have the tallent, thats all I can ask for.

Now onto the Lab's...
J.Vilma, Need I say more? AFC D Rookie of the year last season, and he is out to show everyone it was not a fluke... He actually leads the NFL in tackles this season, he can straight up fly to the ball... He is also good in coverage as-well... Ever since Miami I knew he would be a stud, I thought he might be a DE in the NFL, but they way he plays, MLB is the right place for this kid to rome for years to come.

E.Barton, He may not have the most talent in the world, or be the fastest LB in the NFL... But he has something about him that I like. I mean, we got him from the raiders before last season for a reason... He was there leading tackler in the 03-04 season... And he can make plays, and get to the ball with the best of them... Oh yea, BTW... Vilma, Ellis, Abe, and Robertson only make him that more successful in the Jets scheme

V.Hobson, Has played great this year... And every team needs a OLB than can knock your helmet off when you come his way, V.Hobson is another young Jet who I believe will just get stronger as the year progresses.

T.Law, It was like Christmas all off-season with this guy... Everyday waiting to open up that present and see #24 in a Green and white jersey... I could picture him bringing that Patriot swagger to the Jets D, and taking us where we need to be... And I think T.Law is what 31-32 years of age? He is a CB... Not alot of miles under him like a C.Martin does... He should be stellar for another 2-3 maybe 4 seasons with us. 1 Thing that goes un-noticed is... He can help D.Barrett become a true #1 CB, and if not a #1, def a great #2 CB... Also I think E.Coleman and K.Rhodes will learn alot from him on the field, as-well as off the field routines.

D.Barrett, He struggled the 1st game@ KC... But since then, he has shown me alot of heart. I think he is a excellent #2 cover CB, and with TY.Law on the opposite side... He should make alot of noise for us in the future.

E.Coleman and K.Rhodes... Boy I'm proud to say we drafter K.Rhodes, I think he was a sleeper and a big time steal for this D, kinda reminds me of E.Reed... And E.Coleman, boy has he played great this year... I'm glad we have 2 safety's that can run and hit with the best of em.

I love this D, they should be a unit for a long time.

jests have a good D, but i'd still take the bills.

the bills get hurt by the run, but have faced top Run Os

Houston: didn't do much on us
Tampa: have torn up everyone WHILE CADILAC PLAYS
Atlanta: best Run O bar none
New Orleans: held in check until late, time on field got to us in the 4th
Miamia: got gashed a bit in spots, just some missed tackles.

we will end up with a near middle of the pack run D, but we take the ball away with the best of them and terrorize the pass.

We'll end up with about 35-40 take aways at the end of the season, and our scoring O is good (we do give up too much in the redzone and on short drives tho).

!

So don't include the games against good offenses? :snicker:

Miami-bad offense
Baltimore-bad offense
Jacksonville-average offense
Tampa-average offense missing thier stud RB

They are not a championship D. Championship D's shut down the great offenses

Let us play the Chiefs again... I promise Vinny wont fumble the ball 6-7 times... I know 100% that's why they scored all of them points... Because int he second half, the D played alot better...

they do have one hell of a pass rush that our OL could have problems w/ all day.

Just like the fins, I am not worried about their passing game and Martin isn't having the same season he had last year but we are ranked 31 at stopping the run.

I think both teams passing O is a push.

My prediction, whoever can run and stop the run wins this game.

Dude just take away every game and they're #1!!! Isn't that easier??

They played the Chiefs.. woohoo!

They played a weak Miami offense.

They played a weak Jacksonville offense and gave up 26 points.

They played a weak Baltimore offense.

They played a weak TB offense and thats a weak offense with Cadillac.. Cadillac didn't even play.

Lets not get caried away. They're decent.

Isn't this a Bills site? What's with the children's book about the Jets?

ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz..........

HendersonD06

Yes, this is a BiLLs fan site, and a Childrens book? I dont even wana comment because I dont want to be considered a "Troll" But as far as your "Zzzzz" Coment... I think the Jets this week will put the BiLLs whole season to a zzzzzz... 2-4, 1-1 in the AFC East, and the Jets are at 3-3, 2-0 in the AFC East, and back to .500... Thats just how I see it.

For the simple fact... Old Vinny boy gives the Jets team some life, some excitment to the whole Ofence... I truly think that Curtis Martin will have his first break-out game of the year, carry the ball 27 times, and actually pick up anywhere from 115-130 Yards on the ground with 1 or 2 TD's... And truth be told... I dont see a young W.McGahee doing much of anything vs a D-Line with possibly 3 Pro-bowl type players, J.Abraham, D.Robertson, S.Ellis, and a solid run stoper in J.Reed... We also have 2 Pro-Bowl type LB's to help stop that run game of Buffalo... J.Vilma(AFC D Rookie of the year) And happens to lead the NFL in tackles this year... Also dont forget about T.Law, Coleman, and the steal of the 05 draft in KERRY RHODES... The Jets are a better team, and will prove it this sunday.

Careful last time some AFC East knobs came in and talked smack, most went home with their tail tucked after a proper thrashing.

The Jets DL will probably have a field day with the Bills OL. As long as Holcomb keeps the mistakes to a minimum the Bills will be a tough team for the Jets to B-E-A-T.

Hey, you all beat Miami... WOW... We beat the 4-0 Bucs... Who you all could not beat in week 2... We actually have a young D who is lead by J.Vilma, not Z.Thomas... If T.Spikers was healthy... This game might go the Bills way... And by the way, the Jets took care of Miami in week 2 as-well.

Not trying to talk ****t, but the Jets going to .500, 3-3, 2-0 in the AFC East is huge, and I think we will get it done. And if we loose, I will be back to this site to congrat you all. Just dont think it will happen.:spade:

Curtis Martin isnt the same back he use to be, so that could be an advantage to Buffalo's D.. Look at Buffalo's D when they play non-running QB's, David Carr didnt know what hit him.. Gus Fergotte did ok but his deep ball kept getting picked off.. Vinny hasnt exactly lighten up the field.. Bills and Jets are pretty even with talent except in the backfield.. Id take McGahee over Martin..

Hopefully this game stays close, so it stays interesting..

You beat the 4-0 Bucs without their best player. You also played them at home. Congrats.

Come back at eat your crow on Sunday. We'll be waiting.

Not too mention that they got a gift from Ronde Barber and his fist, giving them a first down that led to a touchdown. The Bucs had stopped the Jets on third down on that play. Would have been a field goal, otherwise and you all probably lose.

You have played not one talented Offense yet, to this point your schedule has been so weak your lucky to be ranked that high. But I promise you the jets wont be there long and im not necessarily sayig we will be they ones to knock you down but after us you have ATL, the best ushing team in the league, and san diego, between tomlinson runnin alllll over you and gates & mccardell will be all the field, you be lucky to catch a deep breath will they will hammer you. but youll see, mr. top 3 d...

the jets can't run on us.

no one can pass on us, so that won't be a problem.

we beat them out in special teams big time.

our O can run, wait till our starters come back on the line, and with kelly in we can pass.

when it is all said and done, we will have won this game in the 3rd, and then meaningless stat padding for the jets will happen in the 4th (possibly meaning less turnover and sack stat padding for us too)

Jets is going to be a great matchup, period. Division rivals plus both teams scratching and crawling not to fall behind. I don't give 2 *****s about rankings, teams played or records this is a DIVISION game.

Jets have a strong D and is their best attribute this year keeping them in games and helping a somewhat functional but non exciting offense. This is going to be a close low scoring game unless the D's happen to generate some points. Can't wait to see who has the bigger heart and will to win on Sunday.

Good luck jetty fans but may your QB forget his Geritol or better yet somone switch it with a Viagra. That would be worth getting up for that game:)

I wouldn't be so confident about the Jets not being able to run on us. So far, the Jets have struggled in the run game but we've also struggled on run D and have lost two defensive starters to injury. This is a battle of futility and there's no guarantee who will come out on top.

Truth is the Jets were expected to challenge the Pats this year by a lot of people. That is until "penny for your shoulder" got hurt. Again. Vinny is a competant QB for a few games. 11 games or more? Er.....no. He showed in Dallas last year being 72 years old doesn't make for high arm endurance. So the Jets are done they just don't know it yet. But that doesn't mean they don't have a good chance against us. The game will be won at the LOS. It's a home game so I give us an edge, but not a big edge. Call it 17-13 Bills.
