Choked with emotion, Hull ends long, prolific NHL career

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Brett Hull choked back emotion and thanked "everyone who ever touched my life in the game," announcing his retirement Saturday from a career that left him the third-leading goal scorer in NHL history.

"I wish no one had to do this because it's so hard, it's hard because you never think you're going to grow older and be unable to live up to the expectations you set for yourself," he said.

I remember watching his Father play for the Black Hawks.

How sick is that?

Oh...and NO GOAL!

NO GOAL.

It wasn't his fault though it was the refs.

Yes----A voice of reason! :bighug:

I thought I'd have to be the first one of us Sabres fans to see that game again minus the "Buffalo Goggles". Hull had a Hell of a career, no one can argue. He should be a 1st-ballot HOFer. It's just unfortunate he had to be involved in one of the NHL's greatest debacles, the infamous "No Goal" situation. Damn you again, NHL! :rage:

Damn, if Patrick wouldve not hit the crossbar in the 2nd OT.

That shot was tip by the Stars defense.

Was it really?

Loudest clang I ever heard off the pipe... I was ready to go nuts.

it does matter...you can't blame Hull for that mess. What would you have him do give the goal back because the refs blew it? Be serious.

How many times have the Sabres been to the finals and not been able to bring one home?

I hate the No Goal play. Hate it with a passion. But I love Brett Hull. Helluva player. Honest guy. Great family. I was very happy for him when he won a Cup with Detroit. He had a nice retirement speech, and he's definitely a 1st ballot HOFer.

It wasn't because I could've sworn HE put HIS foot in the crease.
