"I think we can get it worked out," York said. "To sit there and throw rocks at the coach after you won the (NFC) West Division and you won a playoff game is foolish."

Jacksonville is thought to be interested in Mariucci if the 49ers let him go, but York said he hasn't received a call from the Jaguars asking for permission to negotiate with the coach.

Despite reports that coach Steve Mariucci would meet Tuesday with San Francisco 49ers director John York to discuss his future with the franchise, no such session has been arranged, team officials said Monday.

The 49ers clarified the situation, noting that some media have misinterpreted York's postgame comments about phoning Mariucci on Tuesday to discuss an appropriate time for a meeting. There is, at this point, no timetable for such a discussion, although it is likely the two men will huddle some time in the next week.

This much, ESPN.com has confirmed, is solid: Mariucci won't be fired over the defeat Sunday.....more (http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs02/columnist/2003/0112/1491499.html)
