All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
They should chose to kick off. They need the ball in the start of the 2nd half to help with the momentum IMO. Every single time this year, they have won and received the ball first. They start out strong, but then turn to crap. Maybe they need to start out strong on defense and get the ball to start the 3rd quarter.

If they choose to KO, they would be KO in the 2nd half too. There is no defferrment in the NFL like there is in college. They get their choice in the 1st half and NE would get the choice in the 2nd half.

no wrong. the only choice NE would have to make if the Bills KO in the first... is which end zone to defend. No team gets to recieve the ball twice at the begining of both halfs, so there is a deferment system.
I agree with Mikey on this one, they need to get the ball in the 2nd half, and put together a scripted drive like they usually do in the first.
the way our D is playing, the goal is to keep them off the field as much as possible. If we're down 7-0 by the time the O gets the ball, it will be too much pressure, the crowd will be pumped and loud, we'll go 3 and out and it's all downhill from there.

very good point. now i dont know what to think about it...
ah screw it....JUST WIN PLEASE I DONT CARE HOW THEY DO IT JUST WIN.
I think we need to score first and try to knock the crowd out of the game.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

The team that wins the toss gets choice of KO or defending the goal in the 1st half.
The team that loses the toss gets the choice in the 2nd half.
If there was deferment, you would see it used like in college.

WTF.... Kick or Recieve? What Goal do you want to defend? END OF STORY!
Oh wait unless you are wearing blue pants then you get to kick off in the 4th quarter too. What the hell are you talking about!?

Correct. The team that wins the toss gets asked if they want to KO or receive. In college they get asked if they want to KO, receive or defer their choice until the second half.

1. The toss of coin will take place within three minutes of kickoff in center of field. The toss will be called by the visiting captain before the coin is flipped. The winner may choose one of two privileges and the loser gets the other:
(a) Receive or kick
(b) Goal his team will defend 2. Immediately prior to the start of the second half, the captains of both teams must inform the officials of their respective choices. The loser of the original coin toss gets first choice.
Lecter is right. If you elect to kick off, the other team still gets a choice in the second half.
If thats the case Madden has steered me wrong all these years.
