All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
1) Damn trick plays that don't trick anyone.
2) Pulling Sam Adams. Yes I heard he was pulled from the game because he "wasn't making plays"
3) I like Roscoe and all, but in this crucial game, let Smith or McGee return punts.
4) The fatal 4th and 7 call.

You can't blame the coaching on the 4th and 7 call. That's all Holcomb. He threw the ball. Moulds was an outlet receiver in case NE blitzed and they didn't. When they didn't, Holcomb shouldn't even have considered him an option and gone with another of the receivers - or just tucked it in and tried to run. The whole middle of the field was wide open!!!

I like point 3. Sure the game was most likely over, but if he can just catch that punt and bring it up around the 40 at least you have one shot at the endzone. Even if you bring JP in for the bigger gun!
not catching or misjudging that punt was a rookie mistake.

Marv said something about this earlier.
He said that Holcomb was most likely thinking, “Nobody’s open, I don’t want to take a sack to end this game, my only option is to hit Moulds and hope he can break a tackle.” And he had to think of all of that in about 3 seconds.
Here's the thing that bothered me. That one drive to start the 2nd quarter, it was all Willis McGahee. they even ran the ball on 1st and goal. McGahee got 6 yards. Then they went to two consecutive passing plays instead of trying to pound it in.

Having the corners lay off WR's. MANY times they were 10 yards off, no exaggeration. And this allows QB's the chance to hit WR's without timing being disrupted. A lot of times, we stacked the middle. Brady sees this and knows because of our soft coverage on the corners, he can audible and go with a quick 2-3 step drop hit out in the flat, to hell with running up the middle.
Case in point last night. NE is inside the Bills' 10 late. Clements starts backing up like the WR is going to run a deep route????? Brady hits his guy just over the LOS and THEN Clements comes back into the picture to strip the ball? Why didn't he just stay with him in the first place? Either Clements is not the shutdown corner he says he is and that we need, or it's Gray's fault for allowing this. WTF are they doing during practice? Soft coverage, no-tackle-just-strip-the-ball drills?
And blitzes. Disguising them is a joke. Pittsburgh does it by sending numbers, so it CAN be done. They put 8 in the box and dare you to run on them. How is a QB going to be intimidated if all sees is a four-man front? We got to Brady, but we went away from it? Why? Disrupt his timing and send the house. Our secondary had fairly good coverage deep last night, (except for a few passes.)
