I still believe we should franchise/trade Nate for a first rounder and with 2 picks take a DT/CB and resign crowell to replace Posey. Using Extra money to sign McGahee long term as well as upgfrading our OL. But nonetheless some mock drafts from around the web.

Almost every draft has us taking a OT or DT, with the occasional draft taking a CB/LB.

Enjoy!

HALOTI NGATA
Last offseason the Bills lost mammoth defensive tackle Pat Williams as a free agent and as it turns out they probably miss them even more than they thought they would. Sam Adams still has something left in the tank but he isn't getting any younger and guys like Tim Anderson and Justin Bannan just haven't gotten the job done. Enter Haloti Ngata, who at 6-5 and 338 lbs. has a freakish blend of size, speed, strength and athleticism. In fact, there is a chance he could be long gone by this point because based on upside and potential he would rate as one of the premier players in the entire draft should he come out early. Their other major weakness is on the other side of the ball at left offensive tackle, where Mike Gandy leaves a lot to be desired as Jonas Jenning's replacement. If by some chance a top offensive tackle fell into their laps here that could be the direction they opt to go, but defensive tackle is every bit as big of a need and to land a supreme talent like Ngata this low could turn out to be a steal. Either way look for them to focus on bringing in a guy to upgrade the trenches very early on draft day but whether it is on the offensive or defensive side of the ball remains to be seen.

http://football.about.com/cs/nfldraft/a/bl_mockdraft_2.htm
Jason Allen, CB/S
Terrence McGee is a better fit at nickel, so the Bills might look for a young guy to plug in opposite Nate Clements. Allen could also take over for the 35-year-old Troy Vincent at free safety.

http://www.football.com/draft/2006/mccollom_mock_draft.shtml
Eric Winston OT

http://www.draftshowcase.com/swmock06.htm
Max Jean-Gilles OG
A little high for a guard maybe, but Jean-Gilles is a potentially dominating run blocker and with Chris Villarrial nearing the end of his career, the Bills may choose to go with an interior lineman here.

http://www.draftboardinsider.com/mock/2006.html
Ahmad Brooks - LB
Round2 - Matt Lentz OG

http://www.condraft.com/mock.php?r=1
Round 1 - HALOTI NGATA DT
Round 2 - DARYN COLLEDGE OT
Round 3 - DANIEL BULLOCKS S
Ngata is a guy who could play nose-tackle in a 3-4, but would probably also excel replacing Sam Adams in Buffalo. Adams is getting up there in age, and the Bills have little else to brag about at DT. Ngata is a force versus the run for the Ducks, and combines great strength with freakish athletic ability to swallow running-backs in the backfield, despite constantly being double-teamed. The Bills may look for some help at CB or along the offensive line, but Ngata is considered by some as one of the top defensive talents available.

http://www.lionbacker.com/?id=draft&sub=06-diezmock1
Eric Winston OT
Letting Jonas Jennings walk may prove to be costly, as the Bills don’t appear to have a replacement. Enter Winston, who was one of the top prospects before an injury last season.

http://www.footballsfuture.com/2006/mock2006.html
Jonathan Scott, OT
They try their hand again with a Longhorn tackle.

http://www.nflreport.com/mock1.htm
Haloti Ngata, DT
Sam Adams is aging and there is little to no depth behind him. Ngata is as big and physical as they come and could contend for a starting spot right away in the middle of Buffalo's D front.

http://www.insidetheeagles.com/2006mockdraft.htm
Justin Blalock, OT

http://www.draftstudio.com/mock.htm
Mathias Kiwanuka, DE

http://www.draftace.com/draft2006/mockdraftroundone.htm
Chad Greenway, OLB
The Bills have seen how important Takeo Spikes is to their defense and they need to keep playmakers like that on the field. Greenway is fundamentally sound player with surprisingly good speed that would help solidify the Bills defense. Another target for the quarterback (whoever it might be) is another option.

http://www.draftnotebook.com/draft_projection.htm
Eric Winston, OT

Devin Hester, CB

http://huddlegeeks.com/NFL_Draft/2006/mock2006.htm
David Joseph, OT

A.J. Hawk, LB
With this type of quality of a player still on the board you have to take him despite your needs. He is a player who has been a leader of one of the nations best defenses for some time now. He keeps the long tradition of excellent linebacking play going with the Ohio State Buckeyes. His play is outstanding on the field with his intensity and athletic skills he brings to a defense. He has the physical toughness, talent and versatility to play both the inside and outside linebacker positions.

I  wright or NGata drops to us.

Most have us picking between 8-15.

I think they could get rid of Mike williams and Fletcher, and posey. I would love to see us draft Hawk from Ohio State. Spikes, Crowell, and Hawk, then again i would like them to take the highest linemen defensive or offensive on the board.

I think the Consensus Draft Service mock has it right by positions of need, i.e., DT, OT and S in the first three rounds. And I would be happy with their specific picks.

I would say DT, CB, SS.

OL takes a lot of time and it should be via free agency.

This Ngata dude is the truth! I've been hearin a lot about him. For some reason, I have a feeling we won't be able to land him. I think he'll be taken by the time we make our pick...

I know it probally doesn't matter, but here's the times from the past drafts that the first D-Tackle was taken:

2005: 1st Round, Pick 16 (Travis Johnson)

2004: 1st Round, Pick 14 (Tommie Harris)

2003: 1st Round, Pick 4 (Dewayne Robertson)
1st Round, Pick 6 (Johnathan Sullivan)
1st Round, Pick 9 (Kevin Williams)

2002: 1st Round, Pick 6 (Ryan Sims)
1st Round, Pick 9 (John Henderson)

2001: 1st Round, Pick 3 (Gerard Warren)
1st Round, Pick 6 (Richard Seymour) (DT/DE)

2000: 1st Round, Pick 6 (Corey Simon)

If this Ngata player is so highly regarded, he would easily be a top 10 pick, IMO. I'm not sure I see the Bills having a top 10 pick. I assume we would be around #15...

Teams that I think would draft before us:
Miami
NY Jets
Baltimore
Cleveland
Houston
Tennessee
Detroit
Green Bay
Minnesota
NO Saints
Arizona
San Francisco

12 teams....

I am a fan of Ahmad Brooks. I think he can be the best ILB since Urlacher and instantly adds better run stuffing back into our D's middle. I love Fletcher, but if we wont have 2 stud D-lineman, Fletcher doesnt work as our ILB. heres a link http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?SID=5418853

id like to see us franchise nate, dump mike williams and his huge contract (I think this move to LG is his nail in the coffin, it shows we are going to go with Peters)

Nate is good, but not worth the huge $$$. We could sign 3 good OL for the price of him. Posey hasnt been the greatest since he came to BUF, but I dont think the defense puts the SLB in a posisition to make plays. Think Keith Newman.

Nice job though Devin

He could slip with injury concerns. He missed the first month recovering from an offseason knee thing, now he's missing practices here and there with back probs.
Still a junior.
If his injury thing isn't straightened out, he may play another year.

Look for Brooks to stay in school like Gameboy said, he's having a down year and he wants to be a top 10 pick which is in serious jeaopardy right now. Id like to see us get Ngata, Kiwanuka, or maybe Winston, with Jean-Giles in rd 2. I think Wright is to overhyped for my liking and Ngata is the type of guy we need.

Round 1: Ngata
Round 2: Jean-Giles
Round 3: WR

Agreed. The 1st and 2nd rounds would be awesome if we could get those!!! Then for the 3rd round maybe...

3rd rd: WR choices???
Todd Watkins (6'3", 185 lbs)
Jeff Webb (6'2", 200 lbs)

This year's WR class actually has alot of height - which probably serves us well since we have the speed already in Evans and Parrish. A WR with height will help in the endzone.

For 4th rd, we probably should get a Safety since both Vincent and Milloy are aging. Baker has shown good skills as free safety, but we have no strong safety prospect...

I don't think Ngata will be gone in the top ten. However, if he is, we should take a look at a possible replacement for Moulds or a young MLB. Hawk would be an excellent MLB. Greenwood is a good weakside LB that could do well on the strong side, but I think we are set on the outside. There isn't anything in the first round at SS, so we should look at a WR. The thing is, besides Hagan, no one really jumps out and says "potential #1." I would take a chance on Mike Hass being there a round or 2 later.
That puts me back to DT. I actually like Orien Harris better than Wright, but he should be around in rounds 2 or 3.
So....Trade down! I would love it if Donahoe was able to do this. With all the O-line prospects available, along with some depth at DT, this would be the move to make. Multiple picks in rounds 2 and three would be awesome this year.

If they cant get a stud, Sapp, Kearse type player in the first, definitely trade down if possible and stock the lines. 5 picks in the first three rounds sounds nice. Two guards and a DT at least.

2. Greg Lee, WR Pitt

3. Daniel Bullocks, SS Nebraska

The Penn St. dude refered to is Tamba Hali. We're good at DE for now. It's not a need we should address on day one.

I know Eric Winston and he is a great guy that would add alot to the locker room and hes a great player. The only thing scary about him is the knee injury he had last year. He played tight end in high school with Cedric Benson as they won 3 State Championships at Midland Lee (watch "Firday Night Light") togther. At Miami he played fullback in his first year before moving to Tackle. He is an athelte that is a great blocker and catch the ball too. I am sure he knows Shaud Williams as well as they both grew up in the same area in Texas. I think he would be the perfect fit for the Bills.

Green Bay needs OL, LB, and DB help as well as DT. They are a perfect candidate to grab Jimmy Williams.

Cleveland I could see going for DT, but they sorely need a QB to build around. If Vince Young is available when they pick, chalk it up.

New Orleans needs help everywhere on the defensive side. They could go DT, but they will be looking at DE, DB, LB as well. Perhaps Kiwanuka is their guy, or AJ Hawk.

Tennessee has a decent couple of DT's. They are going to be looking for LB, WR and OL. McNair has been running for his life for nearly 3 seasons now. They might also consider a QB unless they are convinced Volek is their future even though he's in his 6th year. They do however, have the luxury of waiting for the right guy, so if he's not there in 2006, no big deal.

I'm going to write an article about draft strategy.....but I'll say one thing.....you CAN'T target a position in any round. That's a recipe for disaster. Take the best player available and a team will more often come out ahead.

McGahee pick comes to mind
