SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Baseball owners unanimously approved commissioner Bud Selig's proposal to have the league that wins the All-Star Game get home-field advantage in the World Series.

That is a great idea imho! Do you think the players will go for it?

I will go out on a limb and say that a tie will probably never happen again, and if homefield advantage was on the line last year they would not have run out of pitchers no way....

Don't like it, don't like it at all. Why not just toss a coin or pick 2 cities before the season starts and award it to them like the NFL and it's Superbowl. Hate the idea.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't repeat myself.

It's a lot better than the even year/odd year rotation between the AL and NL. I agree that it should be based on your team's record, but this is the second best solution. It'll also add some fun to the all-star game.

Cancelling the baseball season would be an even better solution.

                      Typo.

I also think it's a bad idea. IMO it should be based on a teams record. Or if they were division winners over wild card. But to base it on the All-Star game is silly. Especially if a team makes it to the series, gets home field advantage and none of their players even played in the All-Star game.

It's hard to make a home field advantage call in baseball since the NL and AL play different baseball. It would not be apples to apples.
This kicks the crap out of the 'alternating years' way of doing it, and adds luster to an otherwise boring, uninspiring 'exhibition' game. This is for the fans!
BTW, I agree that a tie won't happen again.

IF a tie happens, I say they spread game 7 over 2 days and play 4.5 innings in each team's home park.
