The Vet hosts its final NFL game

Mike Hook remembers two guys who carried a Dallas Cowboys banner around the upper deck of Philadelphia’s Veterans Stadium at a game in the early 1990s, yelling “Cowboys! Cowboys!” Big mistake.

Hook, an Eagles season ticket-holder, recalls that the Dallas fans got about two-thirds of the way around the big concrete bowl when three enraged Philadelphia fans clambered down from the cheap seats of the 700 level, jumped on them, and started fighting.
“You don’t want to be going up there unless you got a purpose in mind, unless you’re rooting for the team wearing green,” said Hook, 34, co-proprietor of 700level.com, an Internet site for Eagles fans.

Thank God. I think any opposing fan or player as well as anyone who just isn't there to root for the Eagles is happy about this news.

Rendell urges Eagles fans not to vandalize Veterans Stadium

After predicting a 20-3 win for the Philadelphia Eagles in Sunday's NFC Championship game, Gov.-elect Ed Rendell urged fans not to vandalize Veterans Stadium, win or lose.

"As exuberant as you feel, it isn't the last game in the Vet. The Phillies have a full season," Rendell said Saturday. "If you're thinking of taking a seat - don't."
