WGR550 REPORTS: "For tonight's game against San Jose, Maxim Afinogenov will not be in the lineup. He's out with a groin injury. The Sabres have called up Chris Thorburn from Rochester and he will definitely be on the ice. Thorburn will be wearing #47 and was Buffalo's second round choice in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Thorburn scored 8 goals(6 on the power play) and 9 assists in 21 games for the Amerks.

Mika Noronen will be getting the start against the Sharks tonight for the Sabres, giving Martin Biron the night off. It will be the first start for Noronen since injuring his groin against the New York Rangers."

like many I have a bad feeling about tonight. San Jose is quite hungry and we have been playing a lot of hockey. Let's hope Mika plays shut down hockey tonight as this is one of his opportunities.

Sorry for that, Skate....

I jumped right in, and made my own. I guess you could say I'm not just as bad as some of the rest of you, creating unnecessary duplicate threads.... :coocoo:

Let's go, Buffalo!

It's almost game time, folks!

No getting home at 6pm PST for me tonight, both the wife and I are home early today, so we can a little "friendly" watching of the game between our 2 beloved hockey teams.

Let's go, Buffalo!

**Clap, clap...clap, clap, clap**

Good way to entertain a sellout crowd huh? 4-0 Sharks.

Too bad it wasn't Mika's fault and the Sabres decide to pick up the pace when Biron gets in goal...

Let's hope this powerplay can spark the team. LETS GO SABRES!!!!

This game has "danger" written all over it, though. Firstly, because Buffalo comes in a much better team this year, which is scary. Big chance for a let down.
Secondly, the Sharks aren't really as bad as their record shows. I probably know more about the Sharks than most here, since I live in CA. That's not a boast to make myself feel better, I just know that they're really not a crap team, even though they've lost 10 straight. And with Joe T added to the mix, they've gotten better at center. They've lost some great players to get him (Especially at wing with Sturm, and on defense with Stuart....where they're really horrible this year). I only hope that Buffalo doesn't come in thinking they're playing an AHL team.

Just like I said in the prediction thread (And posted again above):

The Sabres probably thought this was a cakewalk game, since the Sharks have a crap record. Well---they aren't! They played harder than Buffalo in the 1st, and having Joe Thornton out there isn't the only reason why. Buffalo got crap goaltending from Mika to a certain extent, but he was left out to dry a few times.

sellouts always come to HSBC when we win on the road and come back late overnight and play a fresh team

this is like the 4th time we've been had by 3 games in 4 nights, and 4 games in 6...

I realize there have been many games for Buffalo lately, but SJ just played Wednesday night.

There's no excuse for the lazy play out there tonight. If this is how bad this team will play against the Sharks, then the game in Colorado on Sunday is going to be as bad as the Ottawa games..... :crap:

5-0 Sharks.
:horror:

Sabres look like :poop: tonight.

Allow me to change my tune a bit in the 2nd.

Buffalo is getting ripped off in this period. A few of those "penalties" were pure B.S. calls. Jay's "interference" call was crap, and that "boarding" call was Michalek's fault, for turning into the boards. Come on, refs!

Someone somewhere isn't too happy about the Sabres, and wants to humble them some, eh? :penalty:

A loss is one thing, but taking a game off is unacceptable. Especially when we're about to head to Denver, to play the Divealanche. For anyone who's never watched an Avs game that takes place in Denver, calls aplenty take place there for them. :yucky: The games against the Craps, Pens, and Bruins can't come back around fast enough!

Still, I recognize this team has busted its ass for the past 10+ games and gained many a point. Buffalo has as many points as so-called preseason favorite Philly, how's about that?

It's ok. I can just bring up the TSN, Sportsnet.ca, or NHL homepages, and show here the overall points that both teams have. :funny:

I don't recall any blueliners being out, though.....

And now we're back to pissing on goalies? Yikes, we're a spoiled bunch. Biron has played great in Miller's absence. Better than any of us thought he could. The injuries are no excuse for the performance tonight.

But already, I'm thinking about the Denver game on Sunday. I'm worried, too, because Denver has a pretty potent offense, itself.

You guys take it easy! :tip:

Who is the ****ing genius that schedules a 1 game road trip to DENVER?

Tonights game was horrible. I'm even in a bad mood about it. But, they've played their asses off on the roadie... It'll be ok.

It's ok guys.. all good things must come to an end.. and I sort of expected it tonight.. considering we've been playing so well.. pulled out the victory last night in OT.. and we were facing the new look Sharks.. who were well rested and ready to play.. it's alright.. losing this one isn't the end of the world.. luckily it was a loss to a Western conference team. and not a team that we are competing against for the playoffs.. so whatever.. we just need to move on.. and come out hard the next game

We've been playing over our heads with all the injuries lately anyways. A game like this was to be expected soon.

Right now we're the Buffalo Amerks.
