I just went back into the living room, and thanked my wife. Her Sharks ended Buffalo's points streak, but gave them indication that they played lazy as Hell Friday night. The result of that?

Buffalo--4
Colorado--1

END OF 1ST PERIOD

Not a bad way to start the night. Buffalo is all over the Avs in their defensive zone. To boot, Aebischer is playing poorly out there. Wow, and all of this from a Buffalo team battered by injuries! :cloud9:

But there are still 2 full periods to play......

This would be a nice way to end a horrible Buffalo sports day so far.

Sadly, I didn't get back in time to see the entire 1st, so I didn't see the fights.

They really focused on that during the Shootout intermission, though. I think it's great to see fights. Fighting keeps the players honest, and from all of the stickwork. It's the NHL's insistence at keeping the instinkator penalty in that causes all of the cheap shots----Players aren't accountable for their actions, because they know there's no way anyone can come at them for their dirty play (Gauthier, Avery, Tucker). Look at what happens when someone does----they get suspended.

I didn't want to be the first person to post this, because I have some online buddies I trade McFarlane figures with who are Avs fans, and they'd get me for being a hypocrite....

Typically when hockey is played at the Pepsi Arena, there are an abundance of highly questionable calls. Tonight was no different. Buffalo couldn't get a call to save their asses. That elbow was a blatant one, but no call. Frankly, even though I thought Timmy went down a bit easy near the end there, I didn't care---Whatever it took to get the call.

The difference? Buffalo made their PP count when it mattered most, while Colorado floundered.

A great win.

Next up, one of those "pitfall" games. Like I said about the Sharks last time, the Ducks are better than their record states. However, without Fedorov any longer, and with some key injuries, the Ducks aren't even on the same level as San Josè. Let's just hope the Sabres don't play a half-assed game like they did Friday, and in the 3rd tonight. :scooter:

It's not even that, it's just years of frustration built up of not making the playoffs and inconsistency. Us Sabres fans take every loss hard because we have grown to learn how costly two points can be at the end of the season. Never lose! LETS GO BUFFALO!!!!

Here's something I don't get:

FANS WHO CAN'T TAKE CRITICISM

I understand that as fans, we support our team, but what's wrong with constructive criticism? I am merely pointing out that a so-called "easy" team coming into team is a potential pitfall. Don't say that Buffalo lost to the Sharks just because they played in Montreal the night before. The Sharks just purely kicked Buffalo's ass. Plain and simple.

As JD said, too, for the past 3 seasons, we've been conditioned to get our hopes down. We know not to get too psyched, because our hopes have been dashed the past 2 of them. This time, the team has started out hot, so we don't want to see the Sabres flop at the end of the season. Points are very valuable these days, since in every game, 2 points will be awarded to the winner----There are no more ties. I expect the team to flounder quite a bit now, which is a major change from cheering for them in the past, when they were at least competitive each year (In the 90s, at least).
