I know we are all about 50-50 on him, the more I think about it it wouldnt be soooooo bad. Sort of a "good ol boy coming back home" type of story.

The knock with Haslett in LA has always been the GM/owner and his inability to get on the same page. I am not that naive, but keeping Bobby April here and bringing him in along with a competant DC/OC......

could be interesting.

I would prefer that we spend a lot of money on a proven winner in coaching. Even though I like him, that, imo, would not be Jim Haslett.

Yeah I'm not a big Haslett fan though he would be an upgrade. Hell, Paul McGuire would be an upgrade.

I agree, I think I was more so saying Haslett wouldnt be that bad.

Devin

Plus I dont know how many "proven winners" are going to be availble.

Damn TD for not getting Weis.

I wouldn't sign Haslett. To me, that wouldn't be much of an upgrade over Mularkey. Best bet is to start fresh. I would go after somebody like Ron Rivera or Kirk Ferentz.

Kirk Ferentz and Beamer I think are on everyones list, but I wouldnt hold my breath.

can anyone name a proven winner that would possibly be available?

Brian Billick? For a guy who is suppose to be a offensive "guru" his Ravens offences during his tenure weren't exactly powerhouses. And when he won the SB in 2000 he had arguably one of the greatest defences of the last 20 years along with the 85 Bears. Still the guy has won and made it to the playoffs several times.

Hasslett would be a pick i would see them making. Who knows it could be one of those cases such with Belicheck, that they'll do better on their second time around. Besides New Olrean organization has been a joke for years. He has had some bad luck down there.

Haslett? Well, he's not the best out there, but he's an upgrade over what we've got right now. Heck, the chimpanzee from the Red Rose Tea commercials is an upgrade over what we've got right now...

I'd hire Ron Wolf as the GM and then hire Ron Rivera or Brad Childress as the HC...

I like Childress, but im sick of rookie coaches, Wolf would be great but i hear he is happy just as a consultant.

I think we need to figure out who will our GM be before talking about a coach.

Granted he has only made the playoffs once since he started in NO in 2000 but he also only had one losing season. (not including this year....I think he gets a pass for this year given the Katrina circumstances)

He definitely wouldn't be first on my list but we could do alot worse.

2000: 10-6
2001: 7-9
2002: 9-7
2003: 8-8
2004: 8-8

More than likely Gray is gone, so I could so see a defensive minded HC back in Buffalo. While I'm not sold on Hasselt, I do like his heart for the game. He's also a coach that thrives on discipline, and that's definitly something that this young crew needs. My biggest concern with bringing Hasselt to Buffalo would be the offense. It needs to be addressed and it needs a strong OC minding the store. So if Hasellet is brought in, I hope we have a good coach for the offense, becasue we are definilty going to need it.

I wouldn't be completely opposed to Haslett, though he wouldn't necessarily be my first choice. NO is his first HC job and he's made them better than they were when he took them over - he took them to the playoffs in his first season as HC and has had them in the hunt most other years. Before JH the words "playoffs" and "Saints" would never have been uttered in the same sentence. Many coaches use those first HC jobs as learning experiences. I also wonder how many of NO's struggles are a result of crappy management and ownership. GM duties there have been unstable during Haslett's tenure and we all know that Benson is a complete wacko.

As for the Wanny-Haslett comparison, I don't see it. Wanny had the Bears and really sucked there before Miami. Haslett turned a bottom feeder franchise into a playoff contender.

Yeah. If they are going to come to the league I doubt they will come to Buffalo.

Keep dreaming people.

Even if TD gets canned, Mularkey will still be kept.

No chance getting a new HC.

Wow. I know it was a tough loss last Sunday, but you guys are going off the deep end here. Haslett has one of the most undisciplined teams I've ever seen, and he's probably the most unprofessional coach in the league. There's no way I'd want him anywhere near my team.

I would only mind haslett as a defensive coordinator, but guys I would look into instead as head coaches are kirk ferentz(O-line guru) and Brian Bilick.

Bring in Coach Fassel. I wanted him the first time around.

Sweet. Bring him in. Watch him be out-coached in every AFC East game.

I'm not being trollish here, Haslett is an awful coach.

Every week a buddy of mine who is a Saints fan wishes he would resign.

Haslett has achieved exactly nothing with the Saints, he would be a perfect fit in Buffalo.

I think Haslett would be a good fit. We may end up with the next Bill Belichick. In case you wonder what I mean by the next Bill Belichick he went 36-44 with 1 trip to the playoffs in his first coaching stint which lasted 5 years with the Browns.

Like Wanny... Haslett consistantly underachieved with all the talent he had. Wanny and Haslett both had playoff type teams that underachieved every season... thats how I was comparing the 2...

Haslett isnt a type of coach that is gunna get the most out of his players. He is more of a coach that will just ride on their talent... (aka - Wanny)
