Latest draft standings, hey we gotta look at something fun

    1) Houston- 1 and 11
2 thru 4) San Fran, Green Bay, NY Jets all 2 and 10
5 and 6) New Orleans and Tenn, both 3 and 9
7 thru 11) Oakland, Buffalo, Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland

I honestly dont know how it gets stacked if you end up with the same record, Im assuming the next tie breaker would be conference record, please correct me if Im wrong, in that case it would be:

    1) Hou
    2) NY Jets 1 and 7
    3) SF- 2 and 8
    4) GB 2 and 7
    5) NO 1 and 7
    6) Tenn 2 and 7
    7) Det 2 and 8
    8) Oak 2 and 7
    9) Clev 2 and 6
    10) Bal 4 and 6
    11) Buf 4 and 4

Now, heres my take on who each takes:

    1) Hou- Reggie Bush
    2) NY Jets- Leinhart
    3) SF- D'Brickshaw Ferguson
    4) GB- Haloti Ngata
    5) NO- AJ Hawk
    6) Tenn- Vince Young
    7) Det- Chad Greenway
    8) Oak- Marcedes Lewis
    9) Clev- DeAngelo Williams
    10) Bal- Mathias Kiwanuka
    11) Buf- If it were to fall this way, here is how I feel:
    1) Clements leaves- CB Jimmy Williams
1a) TE Vernon Davis- better prospect that Kellen Winslow, he may not
declare. We only do this because we are getting a future star TE
    certainly not a big need.
    2) Eric Winston- used to play TE, now is a LT, 2 former TE's as our
    starting OT's? I like it.
    3) Ahmad Brooks- with Takeo not yet cleared to play, Fletch being
somewhat of a question mark against the run, Posey may be gone,
this guy would look great for us. He probably wont delcare though
    4) Winston Justice- a solid RT, thats all he has played so far, we would
only do this if we felt Peters could go to LT.
    5) Mike Huff- a day one starter at S, a question mark at CB but may be
    able to play it
    6) Rodrique Wright- Im just not that fond of this guy but many people and
DT is a need position. Id like Ngata a hell of alot better but I dont
    see him dropping to us.

Obvioulsy its very early, alot can change. There are several teams above us that also need QB's. Cutler is a guy on the rise, but I dont see him rising this far. Young may not declare but I see him opting for the NFL. The darkhorse is Marcus Vick, he would go in here somewhere and may allow another player to drop to us.

    Whats your thoughts?

I want a DE or DT. We have way too much TE's on our roster. The reason they aren't featured in the passing play is because they are called to block more than get open. We can get OL in the later rds. though. There's tons of them in this draft. Don't want to miss out on another Freeney if one is available.

The tiebreaker is strength of schedule. The teams with the same record are ordered according the their SOS in reverse order. (the team who played the easiest schedule drafts highest)

Yeah, if the season would end today. Obviously it will change after this weeks game. This is just a current standings.

Also, it takes into account SOS as the tiebreaker.

I always keep the Great Blue North website bookmarked. They keep an up to date draft order on their site. They don't agree with your percentages, but they do have Buffalo in the 7th slot.

I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I completely agree with the positions you targeted.

My TE call is based on their possibly being 2 freaks of nature at TE this year. Both Lewis and Davis are better prospects than Shockey and Winslow.

Heres some info on BOTH for ya ta chew on:

Vernon Davis was another player in the ACC that had a breakout year in 2004. Davis emerged onto the scene last season and became one of the Terrapins most dangerous offensive weapons. Davis played many positions last season often lining up at tight end and fullback while occasionally lining up at the wide receiver position. Davis is an athletic freak who holds many workout records at Maryland in both speed and strength tests. He is extremely strong but also very fast as evidenced by his unofficial 4.41 40 time during spring practices. Davis became a complete tight end last season having made a very visible effort to improve his blocking ability through improved technique and film study. Davis is still young and still learning the terrapin offense but the physical tools are there and all he has to do is continue to work on the other aspects of the game and he could be a force not only at the college ranks but also in the NFL.

Marcedes Lewis is a real weapon last year seven of his 32 catches went for TDs, and he is a deadly red zone target. If he continues to improve his blocking he may also grab the Mackey Trophy. He is a big target with good, not quite great, hands. Not as quick into and out of breaks as Shockey or Winslow [I or II] but still represents a major matchup problem. Will need to work on blocking and snatching the ball out of the air, but possesses great size and speed and could become a dominating player at his position. One of three finalists for the John Mackey Tight End Award in 2004 and the only finalist returning for 2005. An All-America candidate who is probably one of the best receiving tight ends in the nation, also has the ability to line up as a wide receiver to take advantage of his height. Lewis enters his senior season with 11 career touchdown receptions Lewis owns the UCLA record for career touchdown receptions by a tight end, breaking the mark of 10, set by All-American Tim Wrightman, made 68 receptions in his career and ranks No. 4 on UCLA's career tight end receiving list, all of the other five tight ends in the Top Six each went on to play in the NFL. Lewis ranks 23rd overall on UCLA's career receiving list. You can't teach the measurables he already possesses though, and his athleticism at the TE position for the 2006 NFL draft is unparalleled, so keep a close eye on this kid's development this Fall. If everything goes as expected he should sneak into the end of round one.

Now, BOTH have actually gotten even better this year. I have watched both and was blown away at how good they look. Davis is the Matt Jones type that has much more TE experience, but hes that type of physical freak. Lewis has the same type of ridiculous athletic ability though not to Davis's degree but is a better all around TE. I watched Lewis and he absolutley lays out DB's and LB's when they try to tackle him if he doesnt juke them and leave them in their shoes all together.
