The consensus around One Bills Drive is that the Tom Donahoe era will end shortly after today's final game. Conventional wisdom is that Donahoe's job will be split, with Russ Brandon, the highly-regarded vice president of business development and marketing, assuming the role of president and the general manager's job going to a football man. Since owner Ralph Wilson has a history of selecting the nearest bystander when he makes a change, it's assumed that Tom Modrak, Donahoe's chief aide and former GM of the Eagles, would get the job. Hey G! Long time no talk to! I have had it said to me for awhile now (About 6 weeks) that Ralph will spit the duties. Russ to handle all non football ops, and Modrak to handle football only.

MM unfortunately will stay, but will have ALL playcalling duties stripped and be more of a managerial HC. We get a guy like Capers in here to be DC And a good solid OC and we might have a slight chance next year.

I will also add this, Don't think Modrak is a TD stoolie. From what I have heard he has been biding his time to take over this team. TD has over ruled his thoughts in the War room several times. Keep in mind modrak took over a 3-13 eagles. His first full year they went 5-11. The next 11-5 and won their first round playoff game. The next year...NFC Championship. So this guy CAN get it done and get it done in a hurry.

Add to that he KNOWS this team and what is right, and what is wrong with it so that speeds the process.

You're nuts. There is 0% chance TD is here next season. Were you at the last couple of home games? There was so much anti-TD sentiment that if he is kept, and the Bills start slow, the Ralph might turn into the ugliest scene in the history of sports.

I have been here since 2002 but for most of my time I have limited my posting to once a day average. Once software changed so that many of the doodads could be turned off and not have the board look like the new uniforms I posted a lot more.

My assertion has been since Tom Donahoe got the President job as you will remember is that Tom can not handle all of the duties well and would do a better job if he concentrated on a smaller portion of the job but unfortunately in football we have people who want bigger and bigger roles so they can get bigger and bigger paychecks. Tom Donahoe tried to give part of job to Tom Modrak but he would not accept it. Tom Donahoe's management style (keeping hands off) does not work well when he has to handle multiple roles - it is hard to keep hands off and be ultimate authority.

Zero is an extremely small number. I wasn't at the last game but I was at the 2nd last game where staff made the season ticket holder erase the message he wrote in the snow and despite that I can not see how any reasonable person would think he has 0% chance. Low chance maybe but a zero makes no sense. It is like someone saying we had 0% chance (as some said) of Bilsl beating the Great and Powerful Lewis Bengles.

Another factor in the anticipated change is the recent trend toward success by some NFL teams as a result of hiring young personnel specialists. One of the hottest prospects now is a Buffalo native, Greg Gabriel, director of college scouting for the Bears and one of the men most responsible for Chicago quickly becoming a Super Bowl contender under GM Jerry Angelo. Gabriel is a Canisius College graduate and a longtime semi-pro player here. He learned his trade as a Giants' scout in the George Young-Bill Parcells GM-coach era.

What does everyone think of this Greg Gabriel guy? I certainly like the idea of a Buffalo native as the GM and he's even partly responsible for the Bears success I like him already. :up:
