JP Losman asked the coaches if he could play, they basically said no....

Did you guys listen to the postgame interview from JP Losman? He basically said that he practiced all week and went thru all the drills and was fine, he asked the coach if he could play on Sunday and Mularkey basically said that they don't want to see him get hurt in that area and re-aggravate the injury. It was their decision, but Losman was definitely not happy about it.

Well he has NOT shown capability of playing recently but I think the coaches were worried if Losman played, got broken again and he was not able to participate fully the mob known as Bills fans and press would want to crucify them for turning him into another Todd Collins and starting him in a "meaningless" game behind a terrible OL.

Did he ask to play CB or safety? He has quick feet and Bills were severly lacking there ........

      More proof of their incompetence.

          Guys,

Honestly, we're not there. Yes, the Bills' braintrust seems incompetent to us right now, and justifiably so. If they kept a perfectly healthy Losman on the bench to play Holcomb so they'd have a better chance to win and save their jobs, yes, that's stupid. If they kept him on the bench because they thought he really did risk becoming reinjured, which would set him back even more with rehab in the offseason, and that there was no point to get him hurt behind a bad offensive line in a meaningless game, I can see that too. We just don't know.

It was still stupid though - if he gets hurt BIG DEAL - it's the last game of the season he'll have plenty of time to recover.

basically, the "braintrust" came to the same conclusion as the vets...the kid is not ready.

They were smart in not starting JP on Sunday, rebuild the line then let him play!!!! No sense in risking the health of our future QB. JP will be just fine once he has the talent in front of him to protect him. Yes he is young, but when he did play he showed good poise in the pocket even though he was getting pounded on every snap.

what ever - injuries are part of the game, and he's a tough kid.

He gets to miss out on yet more valuable experience not because of Mularkey's concern over his health but because Mularkey was trying to further cover his @$$.

One win during a horific season was not going to determine MM faith with the organization. It is funny, last year everyone was stroking MM D-*K when we were winning all those games at the end of the year, now everyone is calling for his job. You have to take a lot into consideration as to why the team was poor this year, starting with a young QB, injuries, a lack of consitincy at the O-Line, and lossing players to free agency. I truly believe that MM was doing what was in the best interest of the team this year, and he deserves one more year to produce!!!!

Kyle orton isn't and wasn't ready either, but the TEAM Stepped up to help him, not throw him under the bus.

Normally I would give the benefit of the doubt but I heard the "Big Fat Liar" Mularkey say on NFL Radio that Losman was healthy enough to play and was going to try and fit him in the game at somepoint. Let's cut through the lies!! MM was trying to save face and get the win. It blew up in his face and he deserves the scrutiny. He's not just a bad coach but low on the moral fiber as well.

not ready to play a meaningless game at the end of a 5-11 season? This was basically a preseason game.

Exactly. This is a game that should have been used to evaluate what talent we keep and what leaves. Preston should have been in a great deal to get more experience as well as JP. Maybe moving over Jason Peters to left tackle and see how he did...sit Nate Clements and see how our secondary does without him...Lionel Gates should have gotten more play, etc.

Instead, this game was treated as a must win b'cse Mularkey felt that if he ended on a good note, he might keep his job. He did what was best for him instead of what was best for the team. We don't need that type of coach. In my opinion, he has set JP's development back another year!!!

If Ralph keeps Mularkey, I will have to seriously consider whether I renew my season tickets!!!

what better way to get ready than to actually play in a game that means absolutely nothing?
