The Soap Opera Continues (The Old and The Listless)

The following are my New Year's remedies for the Bills:

    1. Hire Marv Levy as President of the Bills.
    2. Hire a strong supportive Director of Pro Personnel or GM (Modrak perhaps if he plays ball and comes off like he's NOT like Tom Donahoe, or someone else that would be a better fit).
    3. Fire Mularkey.
    4. Hire Mike Sherman or Jim Haslett as the motivating head coach. Sherman has a 9-7 season, two 10 win seasons, and two 12 win seasons. Before you crucify Haslett, remember he's done more with the Saints the past five years than any of our guys have done with the Bills -- gone to the playoffs and won. He's also a motivational guy and a Dick LeBeau zone blitz guru, and a hometown boy.
    5. Franchise and trade Nate Clements for David Carr. (before you all freak out -- Houston is talking about drafting Leinart. If they draft Leinart, that would mean Carr is done there. They need defense. Clements isn't worth what he's asking for. Carr is more proven than Losman. This would cause 1) you to either have both Losman and Carr battle it out for best quarterback, then whichever one wins ultimately, wins, and the other guy gets traded for a high pick, ala Steve Walsh and Troy Aikman circa '89 Dallas, or 2) you just trade Losman now to someone like Green Bay. The fact of the matter is, I like J.P.'s talent and potential, but if there is a true deep problem in the locker room with a lot of resentment with J.P. getting the job handed to him this year unconditionally combined with his cocky attitude, then you might be better off bringing in a guy like Carr who is much more of a team-oriented type of guy with his demeanor, and he's got the tools, and is young).
    6. Restructure Moulds and Fletcher so they can stay.
    7. Cut Posey.
    8. Cut Campbell.
    9. Cut Mike Williams.
    10. Cut Jerman, McFarland, and Geisinger.
    11. Cut Josh Reed.
    12. Do not re-sign Bannan, Freddie Smith, Ron Edwards, or Neufeld.
    13. Keep Sam Adams.
    14. With eight draft choices, load up on OL, DL, DB, WR, TE.
    15. Go after the following free agents: John Abraham DE, Larry Tripplett DT, Jon Runyan OT, Steve Hutchinson OG, Corey Bradford WR (Carr's favorite target and a good 3rd-4th receiver), Trey Teague C.

If structured properly, the Bills would be under the salary cap and could go after a lot of these free agents, depending on how the $92 million - $95 million salary cap shakes out. This team would win 10 games next year easily if structured like this.
