Marv will step to the microphone and be peppered with who should start at QB questions.

He will say that Holcomb is the seasoned vet, he will talk about how he thinks the world of him, but will stop short of saying Holcomb can lead this team to the playoffs.

He will say that JP looks like he can be a really great player, but just doesnt have enough experience. He will stop short of saying he will lead us to the playoffs.

He will name NEITHER the starter, and furthermore wont give EITHER the lead at this point.

He probably says training camp is where we will figure out who should start.

Does anyone really beilive for one second that Marv will name a starting QB today? It aint happening. Furthermore, Marv (one of the nicest guys in the NFL) will do his best to convince EVERYONE that BOTH are wonderful people.

Hole-***mers, JPD, and the media are gonna have to work REALLY hard to find ANY sort of insider info on how Marv feels about the starting QB.

Lets see how I do.

I know I am going to get killed here for saying this but it needs to be said.

First of all I like JP and I think he will be great for us and hope that he does as well.

BUT...."JP ERA" Every post you create is about JP will get screwed if and if we dont do this JP wont get this. You want to get rid of Moulds and Moo for not being in JPs favor and yada yada yada.

Has it ever occured to you just once...that maybe JP isnt all that good? Maybe the entire team and coaching staff shouldnt change completely for an unproven QB from a small school?

Just a thought.

I have no problem with that thought actually.

I have been clear as a bell onthis. NIETHER QB as of right now is a playoff caliper QB. We KNOW Holcomb never will be. JP MIGHT develop into one.

Using that simple math, it means we must find out if JP is good enough. Or, you can bench, trade, or cut his a_s.

So, we can either continue to play him and find out what we have in him, OR we can do ANY of the other option but then IMMEDIATELY begin the hunt for a new playoff caliper QB. That means either a VERY high draft pick, a HUGE trade and many many millions of dollars.

To me, Id only like to give the kid a real shot, with a full seasons worth of starts and see if he develops into a franchise QB.

But, if we dont have the spine to do that, lets head in a new direction but it best be for one that has MORE upside or is a PROVEN playoff QB.

i agree with you he should have had a started after the season was basically over but in the beginning you cant blame the coach or the vets on this team for wanting to have an experienced guy in there to help win. Holcomb isnt Favre but he could have lead us to the playoffs with last years D and special teams and this years weak division.

Will you get over the starting QB thing?
The real question is an offensive and defensive line, and dumbo still being the head coach.
No team in the NFL is going to step up in Jan and name next years lineup. Sheeez.

I completely agree with you sentinment minus one part.

I can blame the coaches for wanting to win now with an experienced QB. It was there job to wake up and realize that NO MATTER WHO was at QB, we werent going to the playoffs!!!! Most of us fans saw it after about 3 games. The D finshed 29th in the frikkin league. You better have an all world QB to get you to the playoffs.

With all this JP talk i thought i would look at how some current and past QB's did in their 1st and 2nd years. I am not trying to compare JP to any of the great QBs, or even trying to say he will be that good, but i thought that the stats were interesting.

Take what ever you want from these stats but they all look about the same, not good. I am not really a JP fan, but i do know that unless you give the kid a chance to play we'll never know. Also, if you dont give him a half way decent OL you'll never know what he's capable of. I do know one thing if KH is going to be our QB we wont be going very far.

If they think that JP is not our future than get rid of him and bring some other QBs in by, FA, Draft, Trade, or whatever i we just need someone that can be our future, and everyone knows KH is NOT.

BINGO. Now maybe some of you can move on? To me, and it is only my opinion, but this is the most sensible posting I have seen in this forum the entire God Damn year.
