Wilson Announces Donahoe Out, Apologizes To Fans
WGR Newsroom - Wednesday, January 4, 2006 - 2:29 PM

The owner of the Buffalo Bills, Ralph C. Wilson Jr., has announced that President and General Manager Tom Donahoe will not return to One Bills Drive. Mr. Wilson lauded Donahoe for his work ethic and his community involvement, but stated that the team had not made enough progress over the last five years. However, Wilson said that he does not place the blame solely on the former GM. "If there are any bullets to be fired, I want you to fire them at me." In addition, Mr. Wilson apologized to the fans for the quality of the team, and for "confiscating signs. That is not the policy of the Buffalo Bills."

Mr. Wilson also announced that Donahoe's football and business duties will be split up within the organization. The Bills owner will retake the position of "President of the Bufflao Bills." He did not announce a new GM, but did state that Tom Modrak will remain as assistant GM, and will spend more time in Buffalo that he has in the past. Modrak is not a candidate for the GM position.
