After listening in on some Marv Audio, a few predictions.... Most Obvious..

-He loves McNally, probably will keep him.
    .
-Doesn't seem to like the blitzing schemes of the 46, has commented on how a lot of the good teams defences are using the cover 2 (Tampa, Indy, Chicago). That said look for the 4-3 cover 2 to come to Buffalo.
    .
-Really like the no-huddle offense, commented after the Miami game he doesn't seem why teams don't use it more. Said probably because it is too simple. We could see more of this, especially because JP seemed so comfortable with it.
    .
-JP vs Holcomb....... JP better be ready to take the job from him because Marv has no intrest in building for the future IE putting a younger player in to gain experiance.
    .
-Says the two biggest things he likes to build around is the #1 Defence see cover 2.. and #2 the o-line. Look for changes there obvoiusly.
    .
-Could clash with Mularkey because of his conservative nature said that he took heat even when running the no huddle for it being too conservative. (Other than a handful of reverses don't remember many trick plays while Marv was here.)
    .
-Looks to make the bigger splash in free agency because few young players can make an immediate impact, and that 2-3 years is too long to wait to turn the team around.
    .
Just some best guesses after listening to some archive audio at WGR.
    Commence disscussion now.

Love the comments myself, but how much of that will really matter in the upcoming season if Levy is GM. Mularkey will still make the decisions on the field.

The Cover 2 has been in Buffalo since about week 10 I think. It's been their base Defense for at least 6 or 7 games.

Every one of those points is good news to us.

My point being expect a cover 2 specialist to be hired as our next DC.

Marv loves everybody in public. If you read his book, about the only person he had bad thing to say about was the GM in KC who canned him.

As far as QB's go, Kelly was a no brainer. Marv had a QB controversy in KC between Kenney and some guy who's name escapes me... It went on for a couple of years.

It's funny that you say that. This morning I was watching the Bills 1992 Yearbook on ESPN Classic. They showed us run a reverse flea Flicker. It was beautiful and went for a long TD to Beebe.

Because the GM is the Head Coaches Daddy.

He brought up McNally like 3 different times when talking about the o-line and how bad it was and how great of a coach McNally is. He didn't bring up any o-lineman that he loved. THat is what led me to believe it is a personell issue not a coaching issue in his mind. FWIW

What I meant was that in public Marv will say everyone is doing a fabulous job. I don't know how much of that he really believes, or if he says something else in private. He's a "glass half full" kind of guy.

The more I listen to him the less I mind this happening.

Ok, but a GM doesn't tell a HC who to play and what schemes to use. Kind of like what Mularkey did to Clemens. He took over the play calling half way through the season. Why do you need an OC if you're making all the calls.

Same goes for the Marv - Mularkey situation. Why have an HC if the GM is making all the calls on the field.

Besides, Marv is not a control freak. He will lend Mularkey more than enough rope to hang himself. Perhaps he'll even have enough freedom to do some damage.

He'll need to be in on those decisions. He'll need to know what players are needed. Can't have Marv drafting for a 4-3 D when Mularkey is planning on switching to a 3-4

Understandably so, but the decision to run a 3-4 or 4-3 or whatever will ultimately be left up to the HC and his staff.

You mean a guy like Dick Lebeau? I was so pissed when they let him go over Gray. Lebeau INVENTED the cover 2 scheme.
