When he talked about drafting Conlan instead of some highly touted player that ended up in jail, who was the other player?

Conlan was drafted in 1987. Phillips was something like 10 years old then.

I was just looking at that draft trying to figure it out. The next 2 players drafted were Jerome Brown and Rod Woodson. Wow.

Ill bet it was Reggie Rodgers.

That is what I thought at first too but Rogers went before Conlan. Although he did get a Bills tryout years later.

Did DJ Dozier end up in jail?

It could have been Rogers, we swapped picks with Houston that year.

It was either Dozier or Brown...

Brent Fullwood 4th overall???? That might be the biggest bust at RB ever.

14 Minnesota D.J. Dozier RB Penn State

That is the guy I think marv was talking about. Remember how he said the next year they didn't have a first to get a RB and instead drafted some guy named Thurman Thomas? :lmao:

I don't remember him being awesome. He was good to average from what I remember.

I'm just saying, those are two great players to go there. Brown was incredible, although his career was cut short to injury. Woodson was named the the NFL 75th Anniversary team as a starting CB.

Those are some good players.

It had to be Reggie Rogers -

ROGERS, REGGIE
Reggie Rogers, a former University of Washington and Detroit Lions defensive lineman, was convicted of negligent homicide in the 1988 alcohol-related deaths of three Michigan teenagers. Rogers, who broke his neck in the crash, spent about one year in jail. In 1986, while Rogers was in college, drunken driving charges against him had been dismissed after several people appealed to a judge.

All the talk that year was to get Reggie Rodgers. Everyone thought that the Bills would go for him because they thought the Bills would have a dominant pair of DEs.
