    Rams, Packers interview Cowboys coaches

IRVING – The Bill Parcells watch continues, but so do the Sean Payton and Mike Zimmer watches.
Zimmer, the Cowboys' defensive coordinator, met with St. Louis Rams president John Shaw and president of football operations Jay Zygmunt on Thursday in Chicago. Payton was in Green Bay, interviewing with Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
The Rams are expected to interview Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera and Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan today. New York Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis is expected to interview Monday.
Once Shaw and Zygmunt go through the initial interview process, they are expected to conduct a second round of interviews before making a decision.
Payton's candidacy in Green Bay may have received a boost because Minnesota reportedly is close to naming Brad Childress its new head coach. Childress, Philadelphia's offensive coordinator, was considered the frontrunner for the Packers' job, partly because of his ties to the state, having coached at the University of Wisconsin from 1991 to 1998.
Another factor that could help Payton is Ron Wolf. The former Packers president carries a lot of weight in Green Bay, and he has spent time with the Cowboys during training camp in each of the last three summers.
Payton, the Cowboys' assistant head coach, met informally with New Orleans officials Wednesday in San Antonio, and is expected to interview next week at the Saints' facility in Metairie, La.
As for Parcells, he has been in the office every day this week, however, the coaches are expected to be off next week.
