I'd like to go back to the future with Ted Cottrell, who is both a great DC and a great person.

Capers. I want the 3-4

Mr. Miyagi

Ted knows the 3-4 know too. Very well.

We'll need some major personnel changes to run the 3-4.

We need a couple of DTs if Big Sam doesn't come back. But we have the LBs to do it, especially with Posey shining in the 3-4 in Houston.

Bring back Cottrell and we'll have a big family reunion! But the party can only last until 11pm because we can't have these old geezers out that late :lmao:

Capers and Cottrell both excelled when running the 3-4 defense. Keeping Sam Adams here for another year will be a fine fit and a good time to mold Ngata to take over the starting role in 2007.

Cottrell is only 58.

Ok so Ralph is 87
Marv is 80
Cottrell is 58

I wasn't saying they were too old...all I was saying is by 11pm, these guys will be falling asleep at the reunion. Well, unless Frankie Yankovic started blaring out of the speakers...then LOOK OUT!

Mr. Miyagi

I'm only 34 and I'm falling asleep by 11pm. So what's your point?

Someone with Cover 2 experience or Mike Archer.

In 1955 they said I was too young. Today they say I am too old. Both times, they are wrong.

Old? Young? Black? White? Man? Woman? Southerner? Easterner? Catholic? Jewish? Muslim? Wasp? Why confuse yourself? Consider just one question: How qualified is the person? - Marv Levy - Where Else Would You Rather Be?

Real Football has an article listing possible DC candidates for Buffalo.

http://www.realfootball365.com/nfl/articles/jerry-gray-bills110106.php

Besides those in your poll, Mr. Myagi, it lists Jim Haslett whom we all know about, and Pepper Johnson, defensive line coach for Bill Bellichick and the Patriots, Dave McGinnis assistant head coach and linebackers coach for Tennessee and Rod Marinelli, defensive line and assistant head coach for Tampa Bay. Among all the candidates, Capers, Johnson, and Cottrell would all tend toward using the 3-4, which could require some personnel retooling. They predict Brett Maxie will end up with the job since he would come at the cheapest price and Buffalo tends not to spend a lot on assistants.

That's a good article. I bet Marv will feel like a little kid in a candy shop. Intriguing candidates to say the least. Personally I like cottrell and Mcginnis, but that's just favortism because I know a little more about them.

I went with Ted Cottrell - he seems to have players follow him where he goes (kinda like old Parcells - remember Martin, Keyshawn etc - that's definitely something I want in as many of my coaches as possible).

Ted Cottrell is my first choice but if he doesnt come back, then Mike Singletarry. I think Mike S has it in him to be a great DC and later on go on to become a great HC. He's a very good motivator and is a great Xs and Os kinda guy. Our defense would never quit on him.

No, but Winfield still has a lot of gas left in the tank, and we all missed Fat Williams this season and no one will argue against that.
