You guys better find what school his kids go to and harass the hell out of them!

Replacing MM with Haslett? THATS a real upgrade. :crap:

Haslett's a much bigger upgrade than Mularkey. ANYBODY is.

I hear ya. Haslett is a bum!

Sure he has experience... In MEDIOCRITY. Our goal here is to get OVER the hump, not remain at or below it. Might as well keep Moolarkey.

There are a lot of choices better than Haslett but I'd take Haslett over MM anyday.

I think Haslett is a decent coach. N.O. has been a mess for decades.

who do you people want to be head coach? everyone complains about mularkey and now he resigns and everyone complains. makes no sense at all

Haz was coach of the year in 2000 and the only coach in saints history to win a playoff game...Something mularkey can't say....I guess who ever the coach is they will have to keep ..Bobby April and Jim Mcnally......

I'm complaining about the prospect of hiring a coach whose career accomplishment is winning one playoff game.

BAM

I suppose he is at least a slight upgrade over Mularkey.

2000 was five years ago though. Check out their record from this season. :ill:

BAM, don't give in to this... Haslett isn't the answer.

Give him a break for this past year...Katrina had something to do with that and having to play football in 2 different venues. He is definetly an upgrade over MM.

I don't think he's the answer either. Everyone is all over his testicles because he played for Buffalo, what 20 years ago? Big whoop.

I found this quote from Elminster on BB.com... I found it pretty funny. Replying to someone saying "Well, the Saints beat the Bills..."

Yeah, so did 8 other teams, what's your point? Being a better coach than Mike Mularkey is like being sentenced to 75 years in prison without parole as opposed to a life sentence without parole...Haslett is better than MM, but not by much. What's more, he was heavily disliked in the locker room...especially last year...

We should get Devin's viewpoint about this. Afterall, he's seen and heard the Saints everyday by living in Louisiana. He could tell us why the Saints have struggled soo much under Haslett. I blame that piece of **** owner, Tom Benson more than Haslett myself. I think Jim Haslett will be a good coach on the right team.

Alright I'll give him last year, but even if you take last year away, all you have is a mediocre record. A few games over .500 is nothing special.

If he is hired, I hope you're all right and he is the answer afterall, but I'll believe it when I see it. :)

Haslett is horrible - not only is he not a good coach, he's a terrible "face" of the franchise. He comes across as a spoiled whiney child IMO. Hiring Haslett would be a big mistake.

Not advocating one way or the other, but Belichick was nothing special in Cleveland.

I wouldn't mind Haslett actually. I personally feel that Aaron Brooks was the main reason that team sucked. Of course, we have Holcomb and JP, so that's only a little better.

I would take Haz.

Or Fisher.

Hell, I would even take Jerry Glanville. At least we would be putting the other team's players in the hospital.

I've never liked Haslett as a coach. His teams play stupid and undisciplined, and many times seem unprepared.

I also never like the way he talked bad about guys after they left. He would trade a guy, then trash him on his way out of town.

Exactly. From everything I gather about him, he is a bit two-faced and egotistical. Just the thing most people here do not want in a player, but I guess don't mind in a coach.

I'm hoping it's neither Haslett and definilty not Martz. Martz is an idiot of a head coach.

I remember when he was in his 1st and 2nd year in the league as HC of the saints. Everyone thought this young, blonde haired coach was amazing for reviving the saints.

I view NO and BUF alot in the same boat. Lots of talented players, but never able to win, which makes me wonder how much of an upgrade Haslett will be.

NOOOO to Haslett as HC. Haslett was always lucky to have loads of talent around him in NO and he still wasnt able to accomplish anything with the team. One playoff appearence in 5 years, sorry thats not what i'm looking for in a HC. Besides his teams were always undisciplined on the field and barring this year and its performance, for which i'm willing to give Haslett a pass, still doesnt make up for the consistent underperforming of this team between 2001 to 2004. We need somebody as HC here who is able to command the respect of his players, looking at Haslett over the last few years, it doesnt strike me that he commanded very much respect and attention of his players. I also have doubts about his play scheming, coz if with all that offensive talent he had going for him in NO, he couldnt accomplish much and always found new ways to lose games, then that say a lot of his coaching and motivational capacity.

He did something noone in the history of the NFL could do...

win a playoff game in NO.

Since 2000, the NFC South has been the best division in the NFL by far. Think about it, the Buccs were very good with Dungy, made it to a few NFC Championship games before winning the SB with Gruden. The Panthers, NFC Champs in 03 and are looking like they might make it this year. The Falcons made it to the NFC championship game last year and have been good with Vick.

What I'm trying to say is that Haslett played in a very very very tough division with a team that just did not know how to win, but he turned it around and won a playoff game. Now you might think "Wtf does 1 playoff game mean?" Ask Archie Manning.
