Bills | Wilson says Levy will not coach
Sat, 14 Jan 2006 11:57:43 -0800
Leo Roth, of the Democrat and Chronicle, reports Buffalo Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) owner Ralph Wilson said again Saturday, Jan. 14, that Marv Levy will not be the team's new head coach. "Marv Levy was hired by me to be general manager of the Buffalo Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl)," Wilson said by phone from his Detroit home. "He will never coach the Bills. That's all I got. I can't be any more straight forward." Friday, Jan. 13, Levy said the Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) would conduct a thorough search for a replacement, but did not rule himself out as a candidate. After some closed-door discussions with Levy and club officials, Wilson nipped the Levy coaching candidacy in the bud. "Marv fumbled around a little with it," Wilson said of the coaching questions that were thrown Levy's way during Friday's animated news conference. "Definitely (he's) content with his role as GM." Unless Levy's status was clarified, potential coaching candidates may have been skeptical that the Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) job was truly available, Wilson indicated.

"I regret that I was not more specific in stating that I will not be serving in a coaching capacity," said Levy, who came out of retirement to take over as the GM after the Bills dismissed team president/general manager Tom Donahoe on Jan. 4.
