That was a poor pass interference call on Seahawks; if anything it should have been a penality on both.

Yep.
http://www.seahawks.com/ardisplay.aspx?SecID=45&ID=290

Two helmets were generated, both with the new logo on each side; one in Seahawks blue that matches the color scheme of the home uniforms and road pants, and another helmet in silver, that keeps in touch with the tradition of the old look.

The Seahawks inquired about being the first team in the National Football League to have a different colored helmet for home and away games, but stipulations prevented the team from wearing two different helmets; therefore, the team decided to let the fans select the club’s helmet.

They had lots of "focus groups" and such before it came to vote on helmet. The fans were smart and voted for the dark helmet.
