Quality organizations/companies always fly people in for interviews the night before. Or, if they do bring them in the same day it is usually at night and the real interview doesn't start until the next day. I've done interviewing and you want to be fair and give the person dinner and a good night's sleep. Who wants to interview somebody after they have had a four hour lay over in airport X?? Also, you want to make sure that weather doesn't affect the flight.

I believe Favre was Favre before Sherman coached there, no? He was brought to the Packers in 1997 and was never a QB coach.

Fully understood, but Jauron came in today...just trying to get a little excitement going, it's been awhile since we've been able to look forward to something. Work with me, here! :peace:

this is true, but who do you think we could bring in that knows Favre better?

That's right, NO ONE.

Sherman wanted Losman bad because he saw a lot of Favre in him - at least that's what I get when I put 2+2 together.

Oh...

well it was just an expression... neither men or cold water don't do anything for me.

I was just really excited to hear that, and I really, REALLY hope we sign this guy and he brings Jim Bates.

I dont' care, as long as he starts to play great (that will of course require us to get him an Oline).

I think it's sort of symbolic of him just giving the guy a vote of confidence that he thinks he's still got the ability to serve in some capacity on some team's sidelines.

yeah i wouldnt have a problem with him being on the staff, but i just dont like him as the head coach

How do we know that they're not going to hire both of them?

After all, they were both on Holmgren's SB staff.

Adam Schefter is reporting the same thing, and says Sherman will be interviewed today. He speculates that Jim Bates could be lured to run the defense. That would seem the best scenario for Buffalo, as Bates is an excellent DC and Sherman is probably the most successful of the remaining candidates:

Here is what Schefter reports (http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9171389):

" Buffalo's coaching search is in overdrive and could be completed before the end of the week.

Lions interim head coach Dick Jauron spent today interviewing with the Bills, and former Packers head coach Mike Sherman will do the same Jan. 18. Sherman arrived in Buffalo today and is considered something of a late entry in Buffalo's coaching search.

But Sherman's hiring also would make some sense. Sherman would bring some toughness, as well as the possibility of luring his former defensive coordinator Jim Bates to Buffalo. Bates and the Packers parted ways Jan. 16 in what was a blow to the Green Bay organization.

Bates is highly respected. Green Bay wanted to keep him, but after being bypassed for the head-coaching job, he asked to be let go. And where he might go is with Sherman, should the former Packers head coach land the Bills top job.

Bills owner Ralph Wilson is a big fan of Jauron, who played in Buffalo and whose disposition is very much in line with Wilson's line of thinking.

And Sherman and Jauron appear to be the two finalists; former Bills linebacker Jim Haslett will not be getting the top job."

Chuck Norris would have a hard time making JP into the next Brett Favre though I think he can be a quite good QB for many years. Favre good may be asking a lot?

I don't recall Jauron ever playing here. I thought he was a life long Lion.doesn't like like he did according to this:
http://www.detroitlions.com/bio.cfm?bio_id=205

Jauron played the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Lions after being drafted in the fourth round of the 1973 NFL Draft by Detroit. He started at free safety as a rookie and was a Pro Bowl selection in 1974 after leading the NFC in punt return average (16.8). Jauron has the fifth longest interception return, a 95-yard touchdown, in Lions' franchise history against Chicago November 18, 1973. He played the final three seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, and finished with a career tally of 26 interceptions and two touchdowns

Sherman didn't make Farve! He was already the man. We DON'T need Sheman. What exactly has he done to make people want him in Buffalo?
