Jauron May Be Bills' Head Coach
Sunday, January 22, 2006 05:16 PM - WBEN Newsroom

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The search for a new head coach may have ended for the Buffalo Bills. WBEN and WGR have learned that Dick Jauron arrived at the Buffalo-Niagara International Airport this afternoon. Jauron made no comment but told WGR that he was, "...pleased to be in Buffalo." There has been no comment made by the team, although it was speculated that a new hire would be announced early this week. Jauron, a former head coach of the Chicago Bears, interviewed for the post last week and was thought to be one of the leading candidates along with former Green Bay coach, Mike Sherman. Jauron spent five years as the Bears head coach and also was interim head coach of the Detroit Lions after Steve Mariucci was fired this past season. The hiring of Jauron would also be a homecoming of sorts as he coached the Bills' defensive backs in 1985.

Not sure what to think. I'm kind of blah about the whole thing if he is indeed the new coach.

I will quit rooting for the Bills the minute he is hired. I am sick of this crap. We fans have had to put up with SH@! for too long now. This was Ralphs last chance and apperantly he is hell bent to fugg this up.

Ed Kilgore told me yesterday that Sherman did leave so that means we are screwed.

We are like the Redsox of Football.

Look at the bright side, the redsox did finally win it all after 86 years.

i really dont even want this piece of **** as our DC... he is ****ing awful and done nothing at ALL to show taht he even deserves the DC role, let alone to head the team..

this is so typical of the ****ing bills.. we have been an embarrassement for the last 10 years.. lets just go ahead and add 3 more on to that.

Reached at home in Green Bay late Sunday, Sherman told WGR Sportsradio 550, "no comment."

If he hires Jauron as HC, Ralph is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

It'll be interesting to see how many season ticket holders will not renew or how much of an outrage there will be if he is hired. I wanted Sherman, and while I support the Bills, I just don't see the reasoning for picking Jauron over Sherman other than Marv's own interest in getting back in as coach.

You guys might get a Lions cast-off. Ouch.

Jauron was an OK defensive coordinator for the Lions. He did about as well as could be expected given what he had to work with. He probably even over-achieved. It's not his fault Millen is a ****** and kept drafting wide receivers and offensive players.

I don't think I'd want him as a head coach either, though.

:ill: oh well.

Wait a sec, 13 and 3 and coach of the year in 2001?

That is worth something and yes that means playoff experience.

Is he a D or O type of coach?

Is he a D or O type of coach?

That was his ONLY winning season as a head coach. Check out the rest of his career, he's a proven loser.

that 13-3 record was a miracle season

Jauron is pretty low key. He's not exactly an in-your-face type.

13-3 = fluke.

Bills = fluke of a franchise if this is the new HC

Maybe I'll just take the 2006 season off. :puke:

Ok, Ok.

But we just suffered throiugh 2 HC's that had ZERO head coaching experience and therefor commanded ZERO respect from any of the vets on this squad who proved, yet again, this year that they had NO mental toughness.

The question is NOT if our new HC is a proven SB coach, thats what I defienetly wanted, guess what none were out there. The question is: is this an upgrade to Mularkey? That answer is most likely YES.

Now, if you add in a 9 and 7 record an just out of the playoffs with Mularkey, doesnt that mean a very good chance to go with Jauron? Yes, the QB position must prove to be solid through JP stepping up. But I expect BIG things in FA and the draft and the team has players in several spots.

Although I am not excited like I would be about a Parcells, Belicheck, etc... NONE were out there, and Sherman, had the same overall playoff record, lets not forget that Sherman had one hell of a QB, a great RB, and a great young WR, plus a good D. What did Jauron have when he went 13 and 3?

Yes, I would have preferred Sherman, but of these 2 p_ssies, Jauron might be better.

Based on what? His record or his decision to trade up to take a third round punter?

Nice job negging me. Anyways, to answer your silly question well I think anyone with half a brain could figure out that Sherman was the best option for head coach. Just take a look at each of their track records, Sherman is a proven winner, Jauron is a proven loser with one fluke 13-3 season.

Yeah no comment, he didn't get the job.
If he didnt get the job why would he say "no comment"...why wouldnt he say that he is not going to be the head coach of the Bills. What loyalty would he have to keep it quiet?...maybe he is going to be with the Bills in some way.
