View Full Version : ***BAM's Plays of the Year 2005***

It's that time of the year again.

This one is a bit different than any other highlight video I've come up with. For one, it's a bit larger (99Mb, 13 mins+... ). I did, however, use a half-decent program to put it together this time as opposed to the basic Windows Movie Maker. I also put in some of my own footage including some shots of Buffalo, the Billszone tailgate from Opening Day, and some shots of my friends and I at the game. There's a nice little segment at the end that you guys should like. I did my best to try and make one of my least favorite seasons look exciting and whatnot.

Anyways, take a look and tell me what you think. Enjoy!

What do you mean? Are you receiving some sort of error message?

I tested to make sure it would download before I started this thread. I wonder if anyone else has problems...

Awesome, just awesome man... Love the ending, and some of the effects - that roll of pics with the double bass drum in particular.

Good timing too - helps balance out the other news a little bit... at least for 13 and something minutes...... :puke:

BAM
01-23-2006, 11:11 AM
Cool, thanks guys! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for pinning this, JJ! The part you spoke of where the pics rolled real fast with the drum beat was a royal pain in the ass to do until I realized you could set the default length of JPEG's when entered into the timeline.

I used Sony's Vegas 6.0 to edit it: http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/Products/ShowProduct.asp?PID=965

Not the best video editing program out there, but an excellent value for its price. I want Avid Xpress Pro but it's like $2,500 or something and you need a freekin' super computer to run it. I really like the Sony line of products .... Soundforge, Acid Pro, and Vegas. I find them the easiest to use... Vegas is set up very similar to Acid Pro.

Which do you use?

i love your camera movement on the steel sculpture and that-artist-guy* -like morphing in the title frames

* whats that very famous artist style who painted all the partridge family bus type boxes? actually i studied art as my first major before becoming a computer geek and can remember every other dang artist style but that one isnt coming to me when it does ill edit it and well pretend this footnote never existed lol

btw - that is the first time ive seen the reed td against the pats in the snow - i was so disinterested by then i never even bothered to really pay attention - too bad its in the last three minutes of a blowout because thats one of the best rac tds ive ever seen

Thanks again everyone.

There were a couple errors I noticed after watching it a few times that I had missed... some black flashes and skips in the frames, so if anyone feels like downloading it again, there is a revised version up there now. :couch: I also added a couple clips and moved a couple things around thanks to a couple suggestions.

BTW, these versions are only rendered at 85% quality, which is why they seem a bit choppy. I wish I could upload the High Quality Full Screen version for you guys, but it is nearly 700MBs... :snicker:

Are you kidding me? I've been downloading a little at a time because it's a huge file and I'm not on DSL. :ill: Now I have to start over.

What I saw of it was excellent, though.

Meathead - I thought the camera movement on the steel sculpture was great, too. And I know who you mean, but I can't think of that artists name, either. :tap:

BAM - I use Premiere (or Premiere Elements) for the editing, and I use Swish (I'm too lazy to learn Flash..) for the titling..

It's too bad the NFL uses such a low frame rate on the online highlight vids... They obviously do it on purpose - probably until they figure out a way to charge for them.

And I hadn't seen quite a few of those plays either, some games I barely made it to halftime...... :puke:

Well you could cut some DVDs or CDs right?

Great job even it was a bit shocking to see the guy grabbing himself. I will not be playing that part in my Bills bar.

Simply amazing, BAM!!! :jawdrop: I'll show it to my friends and they are going to love it. I mean, they can't stand an entire game but this highlights are perfect to introduce them to the game of football... and the Buffalo Bills.

Just two comments: did you erase by hand the strings that hold up Mr. Wilson? Man, that guy looks he just came out of Sesame Street...

Do you happen to have a vid with footage from the good ol times? The last part of the vid was just soooooo sweet.

BAM
01-31-2006, 06:25 PM
I only have short clips of the good ol times. Not any entire games or anything in "computer" format. I hope your friends like it!

This has been downloaded just under 1000 times since Jan 23rd. Thank God I don't have any bandwidth limit. :phew:

Bam , you rock dude!!!! I wanna prop you on several things.

1- The video quality. Esp since you were dealing with taped copies that weren't dvd quality.. Came out awesome with the editing...

2- Finding McGahee highlights. LMAO. that bum didn't do d!ck for us! But you managed to find some highlights anyways. tsk tsk

3- non ghetto music is always welcomed..

4- the time that went into it...

--------------------

Why Deep purple? Cool song but wouldn't some non point been better? no pun. i couln't even come close to doing a season highlight video...

Any chance of a remix with some alternate hardcore music?

I noticed you left out some Ryan Denney sacks............?

BAM
02-10-2006, 06:59 AM
Thanks for the props, Marv!

- The one thing I wish I could get my hands on is better quality video for the actual Bills highlights. Since they're copied from a website, they don't look so great when stretched to full screen... even with high quality rendering. The video I shoot myself looks fine though. Love my Mini-DV!

- I agree about McGahee. He had a few good games earlier in the season but then fell off the map. The bum needs to step it up next year. He was all over the 2004 Plays of the Year.

- I would never shame the Bills by adding "ghetto" music to one of their highlight reels! I chose the Deep Purple song because of the beat mainly. The lyrics kind of fit in as well. I liked that steady guitar and drum beat it provided. Kind of made it easy to throw video over top of. Plus, at the time I was going through a phase of listening to tons of DP. :D

- It didn't really take me all that long to make it. I spent most of the day on a Saturday and a few hours revising it on Sunday. It was well worth it though IMO. I love showing it to all of my friends and all of you guys. Apparently you guys like watching it to as it's now been downloaded over 1500 times...

About a remix though... if I get some extra time sometime soon, I'd be glad to do another one! It's going to be tough until I get this wedding stuff ironed out though.

Thanks again for your comments, guys. I'm always open to suggestions and constructive criticism.
