Eagles' Vincent selected Man of the Year

SAN DIEGO (Jan. 24, 2003) -- Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl cornerback Troy Vincent was announced as the winner of the prestigious 2002 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award during Commissioner Paul Tagliabue's annual Super Bowl press conference.

The award is named after the late Chicago Bears running back, who died in 1999. It recognizes a player's off-the-field community service as well as his playing excellence.

"It is a tremendous honor to win the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award," Vincent said. "It is very important to me to be involved in the community and I feel it is my responsibility to go out and help less fortunate people. It is very easy to just write a check to help out a cause or organization, but what is important to me is being involved and helping people."
