I was working around Boston Friday and listenng to the Sports radio statioins- Eddie Andleman, a long time talk show host was there in the Media hotel and he had Joe D on for 15-20 minutes.

Joe D was giving a lot of the credit for him being a finalist in the voting to the Late Will McDonough, probably the most influential football writer in the country. McDonough was one of the people who brought his nomination to the voters for cosideration.

A week ago Thursday, Joe called up Will, not to persuade him to vote him in the hall, but just to thank him for all his efforts in getting him that far. Joe D thought that by just in being a finalist, it was the greatest honor. McDonough replied "We wouldn't be having this conversation if you didn't deserve it"

2 Hours later McDonough died of a heart attack. Joe D was the last guy to speak with McDonough (other than his wife) while he was alive.

wierd stuff....:scared:

Man, that must be tough on Joe D to be the last guy to speak to him. Kind of an honor too though if you think about it. I wonder if he'll bring it up in his induction speech?
