One was Chicago Bears defensive backs coach Perry Fewell and the other was former Baltimore Ravens defensive backs coach Johnnie Lynn.
The Bills requested and received permission to speak with Fewell, who is under contract with Chicago.
Fewell, 43, previously worked with Bills head coach Dick Jauron in Jacksonville in 1998.

So we are now switching from the Pittsburgh connection to the Chicago connection?

Kollar and Fairchild came from St. Louis.

Fewell looks more promising than Lynn

We already have an unproven HC and we're getting unproven DC's? Sounds like a Greg Williams era all over again.

We could be destined to be the wrost team in this decade.

Since when does unproven automatically mean bad? Every coach, great ones included, start unproven, and many have had success right away.

either one is pretty awful honestly.

we need an experienced coordinator.. they tried to get two of them.. and they both laughed and said no thanks..

now was are religating ourselves to guys that have never been DCs before.. and one (lynn) wasnt even good enough to keep his job as a DB coach with the talent he had in that secondary.. the other has an inflated number 5 ranking in pass defense because of the garbage offenses that they played... and it showed when steve smith lit them up for over 200.. and 168 in the game before that.. the bears defense was not nearly as good as it looked on paper people..

i am not impressed at all with either one of these guys..

justa is right.. we are the joke of the 2000 decade.

While I would like an experienced DC, I'm not as concerned as I would have been on offense, given that Jauron is a good defensive guy and will have a lot of input on that side of the ball.

i hate to rain on the parade.. but we basically have an inexperienced OC already.. fairchild is no offensive guru.. he is a good rb coach who has half a season of OC under his belt.. in which really all he had to do was run the system that martz left in place.

and DJ really is not anything more than an average DC.. put an average DC with an secondary coach .. that doesnt equal good defense at all.

yeah he does. Between the two, I'd rather have Fewell.

Players.....make plays....Jauron will be find as the tutor of our def coord. Sure i would love bates or cotrell buit i guess jim is waiting for his shot somewhere else..

Ted who knows why the guy can't get a shot anywhere it's a shame .. for a great man and coach. I would like lynn more than fewell but ok with both. Sometimes all a guy needs is opportunity to prove himself in this league.

I guess it's ok for the patriots to hire a rookie coordinator then the same guy gets a head coaching job. OR WHAT PROMOTING A GUY TO RUN YOUR OFFENSE WHOSE ONLY BEEN A NFL ASSISTANT FOR 5 YEARS. AND IS ONLY 29..Talk about double standards.

Go Bills

isn't it kind of a stretch to call someone with a Coach of the Year award unproven?

in a league that is based on what have you done for me lately? We should've retained Gray then. He once had a 2nd ranked D. That's better than any unit Jauron ever had or Fiarchild or Bates or nevermind.

I think Jauron and Fairchild will be fine. I just hope he makes the right decision with the DC. Tired of all these so called "teachers" who can't teach to save their lives.
