Two reasons....
1) DJ has been a very good DC and that is his background. So if the DC gets in a little trouble he can help.
2) We need to make an upgrade at Both DT's and Both Safetys in my opinion. We do that and half way scheme right, we are a top 10 Defense again. Stopping the run and stopping 3rd down conversions and start picking the ball of again should be the emphasis.
I am still concerned, but not AS concerned as I was with the offensive side of the ball. I feel Fairchild will run the offense they way it should (throw to set up the run like we did in the 90's) and will serve as a great mentor to JP.
