one of our guys got busted for that last game :(

Rick and Jim brought up a good point though.. In a shootout, a player can basically use any stick he wants, and nobody can challenge it for a penalty or anything. Def. need the NHL to look into that one.

You could tell before they even announced it, that stick was illegal. It wasn't even close.

They have a measuring device that tells them that. I'm not sure of the numbers.See JD post

This isn't anything new, either, for Kovalchuk. He's been called out and accused of this several times. Lindy was waiting for just the right time. You could tell that Ilya knew he was screwed, as he just went and grabbed a legal stick, and headed to the box. After that, his ass was benched, too.

I think that sometimes the penalty is a bit lame, but hey, a rule is a rule.

I want to say that it's something like 1/4".

I would bet that there are more illlegal sticks than legal sticks.

Agreed. Like Lorentz said, players are more prone to using the illegals near the end of the game when goals matter most.
