How does my first FF draft of the year look?

    QB- Trent Green(9-99), Tom Brady(12-142)

    RB- Marshall Faulk(1-3), Thomas Jones(5-51), Antowain Smith(7-75), Trung Canidate(FA), Deshaun Foster(FA)

    WR- Marvin Harrison(2-22), Rod Smith(3-27), Joe Horn(4-46)

    TE- Freddie Jones(6-70), Jay Riemersma(11-123)

    K- Matt Stover(10-118)

    DT- Phliadelphia Eagles(8-94)

I was caught between the crossroads in the 2nd RD. I went out of my character at this point and selected a WR instead of grabbing my 2nd starting RB. Anthony Thomas and Corey Dillon was still on the board, but I couldn't resist taking Marvin Harrison and was hoping Thomas or Dillion would fall 4 more slots till I picked again in the 3rd RD.

It was tough passing on Thomas but I couldn't pass Harrison up. After Thomas and Dillion was taken, the top RB's were gone by the time I picked again in the 4th so I took a steal in Joe Horn at that point. In the 5th Aaron Brooks was still there and I wanted to take him but I had to select Thomas Jones because I had to or end up with Antowain Smith as my 2nd back, and an even worse 3rd string RB. After that there was no reason to take a QB till I did in the 9th during the last string of QB's worth anything was taken. At least I got the guy I wanted out of who was left.

Did I make a mistake on passing on Thomas and selecting Harrison? If I would've taken A. Thomas in the 2nd, then I could've selected Brooks in the 5th(hindsight is 20/20 though). My WR's would've been something like Horn, Smith, and probably Chris Chambers since he was taken late.

How would you rate it? It looks like a potentially good team, but it might've been better with another stud RB and a better QB. Hopefully Thomas Jones will have his breakout year he's capable of, and maybe Trent Green will turn it around, then it will seem like a steal :)

OK...a lot of "if's" just like any ff draft
IF Green turns it around in KC
If smith has another good year you will be ok at 2nd RB
    Recievers look very good.

What are the # of players at each posisition you have to play each week?

I'm not to hot on Brady as a back up QB. WHo else is out there?

      Pretty good overall.

QB - I'm not big on either of those guys. Hope Green turns it around.

RB - Can't go wrong with Faulk. Who knows what Jones will do? I'd actually pick A. Smith to start over Jones at this point. (I hate to say it, but I think he's headed for another big year.)

WR - Best position - great stuff!

TE - Jones' nbumber might fall off in TE hell, Arizona. Riemersma will have a big year as long as Drew stays healthy.

K - I'd look to pick up someone else besides Stover (possibly a Doug Brien in Minn.) because Baltimore's offense is not going to be very good.

D - Eagles should be good...Defenses are a crapshoot for the most part anyway.

      Overall: B+ - Should contend.

Antowain Smith can't pass a running test. I think it is a decent team but I am not to sure about Green and Brady sucks.

Antowain Smith failed that running test last year as well. He went on to have a pretty nice season.

I would have taken aaron brooks in the 5th for sure. He is a million times better than Thomas Jones. Otherwise solid team!!!

I really don't like Brooks either. He needs to prove that he can be consistent before I'm going to rely on him. I would take Fiedler on my team before Brooks at this point. JMO.

Brooks is rated in the top 8 qbs in most publications. A steal in the 5th round.

I know a lot of people like him. I just can't bring myself to rely on him as my fantasy starter yet. It's just my opinion, but my philosophy of having the player prove himself before spending a top draft pick on him has served me pretty well so far.

He could have a great season, but not as a #1 QB on my team!

Good point. Jones is a good pick later in the draft though.

Michael Vick will be interesting this year. He could rush for 1000.

Picking a 3rd wideout before a qb or a second rb is folly. Horn is where you blew it. Foster may be a steal though.

Picking a 3rd WR before a QB isn't bad if you can start 1 RB and 3 WRs. There was a very interesting article on this very subject on ESPN today.
